A little preview of a book i’ve been making for a small museum, a collection of local war stories. It’s kind of a blend between archive photos, newspapers, and stories.

Aminals - War Widows
DEAD AIR by Aminals
A bandcamp supporter comments sum this up perfectly: “Been a fan since 06/07 which is scary to think about. Phenomenal band. A total mystery as to how they aren’t bigger.”
How does a band like this fly under the radar for 10 years (at least as far as I can tell)?
An incredibly hard to search band name already doesn’t help. Neither does a great though sort of generic sound. Aminals are good, they are totally nailing that early 00s metal/hardcore Converge thing, but so have lots of bands.
Despite what it might sound like, I do like the album and its free on their bandcamp page.

War widows to keep pensions after remarrying under new rules
War widows will be able to keep their pensions if they remarry under changes to Armed Forces pension schemes to be introduced next year. Prime Minister David Cameron has announced the changes following a long-running campaign for equal pension rights for partners of those serving in the Armed Forces. Currently, war widows receiving pensions from schemes in place between 1973 and 2005 lose their entitlements if they co-habit or remarry.
This means that people, who have made huge sacrifices for our country, have had to make an agonising choice between their financial security or loneliness.

But the new pension arrangements will ensure a spouse or civil partner of all members of the Armed Forces will retain their pension for life if they remarry after April 1 next year. The scheme is expected to affect some 3,000 widows. Mr Cameron said it is "absolutely wrong" that under the current system some Armed Forces widows lose their pension if they choose to remarry.
