imagine with me: we are robin band au. life could be a dream….
izzy is the main singer and lead guitarist; dax does the drums; dre is the bassist and backup singer; riko does whatever brass instrument is called-for, or just random stuff like maracas, harmonica, or a triangle; and duke is the replacement for troy as pianist and main songwriter (though they all contribute)! sugar has been their close friend and unofficial manager for years but alfred (who they all kinda despise) is who they work with from the label.
izzy, dre, and dax are childhood friends who started this out of a garage when they were teenagers and all messing around with each other. quickly, they thought their sound was missing a certain something and recruited riko, resident music renaissance-man who can add anything! she fit into the group well and with her came troy and sugar.
they rise up in the world after a lot of late-night gigs, with a lot of fans interested in— yes, their music, but also— their interpersonal relationships and the chance to snoop. dre and dax get touchy on stage with a lot of intense eye contact, izzy has publicly kissed both of them and riko, and it seems like there’s bad drama fizzing up with everyone and troy!
before their next tour, troy quits or gets fired or just somehow leaves. the band is out of a pianist and over all in a bad mood when alfred introduces them to his favorite mentee (not that the sentiment is replicated), duke thomas: a pianist and singer who’s songwriting is alfred’s-praise worthy!
how is he gonna fit into the band??
dre, prickly and upset about troy’s leave, antagonizes him at every possible chance and duke returns the favor (audiences are LIVING for this); this culminates in a drunken mistake and a lot of charged, awkward fighting with dax or audiences in the middle. izzy calls duke “loverboy” and they start hanging out more, getting caught being adorable on dates and sometimes inviting riko along. duke’s writing is heavily speculated upon and a source of much drama but even more plays! (definitely a few passive aggressive ones about dre, romantic ones about izzy, and fun group ones)
sugar is tired of them all.
