30. You know, I’d been dreaming about this moment.
Here you go, as a treat:
Victoria stares up at the night sky, the stars winking down at her like they’re in on some private joke she doesn’t understand yet.
Honestly, it feels like one big prank, something Max and her two stooges planned up as a long over due revenge. Girlfriends, not stooges. She chides herself, wincing a little at her old bad habit.
If it is a prank though, it’s a pretty fucking good one, considering that she asked Dana out in the first place. But still, she hasn’t been able to drop her guard just in case this is some insane and elaborate setup worthy of Rachel Amber. It would make sense; this is so unreal it feels like a dream. In fact, she’s been dreaming of something like this since she first met the cheerleader laying next to her.
“It’s a great night,” Dana says softly from her sprawled out spot next to Victoria in the grass.
“You were totally right,” Victoria half mumbles as she tries to relax her body, unclenching her jaw and rolling her shoulders back. After a few deep breaths, she lets her hands rest in the grass, feeling the blades tickle over her palms and forearms. “Getting away was the perfect way to end this date.”
Humming to herself, Dana smiles lazily at her, stretching a bit before asking, “Have you ever been camping?”
The question startles Victoria a bit as she tries to remember if she ever had. “Uhhh, just, um, once, if you can even call it camping.”
There’s a rustling in the grass as Dana rolls onto her side, a mischievous grin on her face, “Sounds like there’s a story there.”
Between how close Dana’s chest is to her arm, and her own embarrassment at the surfacing memory, she quietly hopes her makeup is hiding just how red her face is getting. “It’s really, really dumb.”
A light, breathy giggling bubbles out of Dana as she leans in a bit more, propping up her chin on a hand, “Ohhh, what did you do? Rub up on poison ivy? Not secure your food properly? Too much gas on the fire?”
“What? No,” Victoria groans, shaking her head, “I’ve never done any of that. I, uh… I camped out on the condo balcony when I was six…”
Dana’s giggle turns into a fit of laughter, bright, bubbly, and doing nothing to help the redness that is probably showing through her concealer now. “What?! Since when is that camping?”
“I’d never been, okay!” She protests with a grumble, crossing her arms over her chest, “Just… forget about it.”
“Awwwwh, but I want to hear about it, it sounds adorable,” Dana’s voice is practically a purr as she presses forwards, the sensation of her breasts pressing into Victoria’s upper arm sending a thrill through her body. Grinning at her, Dana offers in a teasing tone, “If you tell me, I’ll give you a kiss.”
The reflexive “no” gets lodged in her throat as her brain short circuits, and eventually she rolls her eyes with a groan, “Okay, fine. My friends at school were all talking about going on camping trips, but I had no idea what those ever were. My parents aren’t exactly outdoorsy people, and they wouldn’t have taken the time to do it anyways. All I could figure out was that it involved sleeping outside, sooo…”
“So, you grabbed what you could and tried to sleep on the balcony? Oh my god that is too precious.” Dana laughs again, shuffling closer still until her long, athletic body is practically draped over Victoria’s side, which so isn’t helping what’s left of her composure.
After a moment of pouting at the memory of her parents finding her and the laughter that had followed, she sighs, “Yeah, pretty much. My parents still bring it up whenever they want to embarrass me.”
Dana’s laughter drains away and she looks at Victoria for a few moments with this weird look on her face. “I’ll have to take you actually camping some time.”
“You heard me; we’ll go in the spring. It’s pretty fun actually.”
“You can’t be serious, what’s fun about it?” Victoria scoffs, rolling her eyes as she does her best to feign disinterest. My parents would probably freak if they heard I went camping of all things.
“Oh, I dunno,” Dana’s teasing tone and grin are back, and two of her fingers lightly press on the middle of Victoria’s midriff before walking their way up. “There’s hiking…” She starts as her fingers walk from stomach to chest, “bon fires…” Those long, slender fingers pass between Victoria’s boobs, and she feels her heart skip a beat, “smores…” Finally those fingers reach her collar bone and skip up to cup Victoria’s chin between thumb and index finger, tilting her head just slightly as Dana’s breath tickles over her cheek, “skinny dipping…”
Those plush lips press into Victoria’s and she involuntarily groans at the fierceness of the kiss, Dana’s body shifting up and onto her hands and knees as she lowers Victoria’s head into the grass.
Definitely better than my dreams…
