I have 67000 hours in this game, and I won't be playing a second more. I got so caught up farming Tauron strikes and beating off to Marie that I forgot to pay my fucking mortgage. When my wife asked me why I hadn't been to work in 6 weeks, I told her I had been waiting for Roathe to finish talking about "the demon of Tau". When she suggested I take a break from listening to dialogue, I got a little angry and hit her over the head with my custom Natah, after taking it out of its jar of course. then she fucking Ascarised me with a no contact notice and summoned a divorce lawyer Dactolyst. When I tried to exact revenge on my now ex wife, I caught her getting fucked by [DE] Pablo himself. I tried to stop him but Arcane Persistence didn't let me AFK anymore, and I couldn't survive. When I asked Pablo how I was supposed to AFK farm survival now, he told me to "grapple into a bitches house and void proc my virginity." Now I'm in a Descendia level called prison and the hole to the next level still hasn't opened. This is absolutely unacceptable. Fuck DE. Fuck Warframe, and fuck this stupid game that Bladestormed my fucking marriage.

Y'know, I'm really excited for Koumei and the Five Fates, but not for thw reason you'd think. While this update is cool and all, and the reworks look sick as hell, there is another thing that makes me even more excited.

The Plan.

Cause you see, after TNW, DE themselves said that they wouldn't be releasing any more updates that cannonically happen before that quest. And yet, here we are (at least according to Pablo, the content of this update is geared towards new players).

Quite a mighty coincidence that this is the final update before 1999, no? Or, even, that its a filler update that got to be announced at a pretty big gaming festival?

Yea, no.

DE is planning a MASSIVE push with 1999, and Koumei is their setup phase. That's why we got so many reworks at the same time. They're trying to get players into Warframe with a generally broadly appealing update (I mean, its literally designed to appeal to weebs) so that they can then drop 1999 and get a surge of players.

And I genuinely hope this works.

Because 1999, what with the awesome music, to the literal anime short that's coming out alongside it, is actually a big deal. While I don't think anything big will happen if the update flops (which, lets be honest here, it won't), it still has the potential to bring about an incredible posibility.

It might just be Warframe's Big Break.

If enough people get hooked, we might see Warframe blossom into so much more than it was at the peak of Fortuna or The War Within. There could be a spike in its fandom popularity and playerbase. We could see so much more fan content, from more fanart, fics, potentially even fansongs once again, fan machinimas, etc. Heck, a surge in playerbase might give DE the resources to give us more updates, bigger central updates, and perhaps even allow Warframe's story and world to grow bigger than just the game itself!

1999, I think, with its more human characters and more grounded story, has the chance to give Warframe the presence it needs to truly become a historic game (especially with how its main competitor, Destiny, seems to be on the decline, however I might be wrong on that front)

Maybe its just a copium overdose, but I really hope 1999 is what Warframe needs to become a staple in both fandom and gaming history. Because, honestly? It would be a massive shame for such a beautiful game not to achieve its potential.

Helpful writing tips in subtlety.

Don't forget to put some really subtle stuff into your writing!

A character doesn't like your main character so they don't use preferred names? Build it up! Slowly but surely, they start to like them and use the preferred name more often over time.

More characters don't like your main character for no discernable reason? No one has to know right away! Just make them embittered in small ways that aren't immediately obvious until it finally comes up and can't be ignored later on.

Going from the perspective of multiple characters? Use wording and speech mannerisms like they would. Add in phrasing and formalities that are unique to that character's dialogue and/or background. Anyway/anyways, toward/towards, anyone/anybody, something/somethin', everyone/y'all, he drank heavily/he slammed it back, stuff like that.

Is your character upset? Happy? Scared? It doesn't just have to be describing them. Add in some scenery to really build on that feeling. "Not even the heat from the raging fire before him held a candle to his anger.", "The sun had never been so vibrant on her smiling face", and "Every corner threatened to swallow them up with their overreaching shadows." respectively.

Does someone have a overarching fear/hatred of something? Maybe they're reminded of it in a little bit of everything. A smell, a color, a shape, a shadow, a phrase, an attitude, a look on someone's face, a place, etc. and it effects their mood/attitude in some way.

Nobody's perfect! Make some small accident that comes back to bite someone in the backside or helps them get in contact with something helpful later on.

A list of quick observations from operation eight claw, keep in mind, these are stream of consciousness style thoughts:

SPOILERS BELOW

The Indifference tells us that their herald used to look like us. Terrifying. Are we the only drifter who survived? Out of thousands? Are we just killing ourselves over and over again every time a fragment spawns? That’s fucked up DE. I love it.

Neci looks like the Orokin. Longer right hand due to prosthetic. Is she the reason why the Orokin look the way they do? Because of the indifference? Baffling coincidence if so. Unlikely to be.

Thrax is still an annoying little shit.

Oraxia was another warframe that Albrecht had ready for the drifter but Scholar’s Landing was cut off by Thrax. Potentially because of the Murmer

Indifference HATES joy. With a loathing passion.

Thrax talks about going beyond the wall a lot. Claiming it as part of his own domain.

There are parts of the operation where it feels like Thrax is growing up a little bit. And then he says something shitty like “I was really your father, wasn’t I?” And it makes me want to punt him.

This is very buggy. Please fix the mirror mini-game and the stupid paragrimms. Sometimes the eyes don’t spawn correctly and people get stuck in the mirror.

Neci is so mean it makes me want to cry.

Neci goes through 4 of the 5 stages of grief while talking to us. denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. She denies that we are making a difference. Gets angry with us when we succeed. Tells us to imagine the things we could do together in Duviri and tries to bargin with us. Tells us solemnly that she was already dying before this all even happened. The only stage she doesn’t pass through is acceptance.
