What happens when your character realizes they're in love...

Here are some things that may happen when your character realizes they are in love with someone. These can be totally obvious or be super subtle. I think that can depend on your character's mannerisms and personality! Have fun writing!

Notice everything. They start to notice things about the other person. Have freak outs when they notice they notice. They notice nervous ticks, small details no one else notices, patterns.

Hyperawareness. They become hyperaware of their own bodies and what they are doing as well as the other person’s body. They are unable to think about anything other than how close the person is. What they smell like.

They may change their behavior. They may become mean, guarded or distant. They may embrace it, try to see how the other person feels. All that matters is nothing is as natural as it had felt like before. They may realize they want to share everything with that person or notice that they have been sharing everything and stop. Inconsistencies may occur where they are normal one day and distant the next while they try to make it appear like everything is the same.

Self-sabotage. Not all characters will do this, sometimes they will. They might think that the relationship will never happen and that it is doomed before it starts. It may cause them to pull away even more, stop hanging out and “protect” themselves but ultimately push the other person away. Silence becomes deafening and everything is a sign of whether the other person feels the same.

Pro-tip: Roads aren't maintained so well at 0300 (3:00am US). They might hit them a time or two to keep them from getting TOO bad, but if you expect to see pavement you'd better wait til rush hour (if then even).

The basic mindset seems to be "If you're out on the road now, good luck. We are prioritizing our resources and you aren't a priority."

How to become more beautiful/Reasons to not be angry

Anger accelerates ageing

You are not punishing unreasonable people

People will think you are unreasonable even if you are right

It's harder to listen to people when they are angry

People want to stay away from angry people

People aren't gonna change

Anger can lead to physical and mental chronic illnesses

There is a part of your brain called the amygdala and the more often you are angry the stronger the neurological pathways are for intense emotions.

Everything will be more than alright if you don't get angry

Helpful writing tips in subtlety.

Don't forget to put some really subtle stuff into your writing!

A character doesn't like your main character so they don't use preferred names? Build it up! Slowly but surely, they start to like them and use the preferred name more often over time.

More characters don't like your main character for no discernable reason? No one has to know right away! Just make them embittered in small ways that aren't immediately obvious until it finally comes up and can't be ignored later on.

Going from the perspective of multiple characters? Use wording and speech mannerisms like they would. Add in phrasing and formalities that are unique to that character's dialogue and/or background. Anyway/anyways, toward/towards, anyone/anybody, something/somethin', everyone/y'all, he drank heavily/he slammed it back, stuff like that.

Is your character upset? Happy? Scared? It doesn't just have to be describing them. Add in some scenery to really build on that feeling. "Not even the heat from the raging fire before him held a candle to his anger.", "The sun had never been so vibrant on her smiling face", and "Every corner threatened to swallow them up with their overreaching shadows." respectively.

Does someone have a overarching fear/hatred of something? Maybe they're reminded of it in a little bit of everything. A smell, a color, a shape, a shadow, a phrase, an attitude, a look on someone's face, a place, etc. and it effects their mood/attitude in some way.

Nobody's perfect! Make some small accident that comes back to bite someone in the backside or helps them get in contact with something helpful later on.
