Warframe: 1999 and Techrot Encore Protoframes, and Romance System Interview w/Kat Kingsley @ Lords of Gaming
An interesting interview with the principal writer of Warframe, I added some of my personal notes about the new Protoframes under the cut:
Velimir and Minerva are the mom and dad characters -> story of mom and dad who have separated, it's your job to decide whether you want them to get together
"what separated them? and what is it about each others personalities that ticks them off"
Velimir is both goofy dad and military dad ("he's tryna be younger than he is, cool with the kids")
He is trying to play at Neci's level
Minerva is the serious mom, always "very on point in the militaristic sense"
So fun dad and serious mom couple…
"it was hard to not let them just argue and make the player make a choice" writer says she really enjoyed writing them
Kaya:
"the annoying teenage valley-girl esque type"
Rebb masterminded Kaya's narrative (wrote her, writer giving full credit)
"someone who is just turning of age in the era of the early internet"
"I lurk Reddit and Tumblr" [looking at fan reactions]
"I wanted to make sure that choices matter and there is an actual sense of danger." [about possibility of fumbling a character and locking yourself out of dating/convos]
Vague on whether you can "lock yourself out" with the new 4 protos (probably NDA stuff, obviously can't spoil stuff); is there a bad end? we will have to find out…
Flare/Temple:
"their story is going to be the most surprising/the most tonally different"
"the death of their band is the least of their problems" will we get an actual body horror story?! WILL WE?!
"their guitar is the bigger problem"
"its a little bit spookier than the other ones" going into horror territory
