I am incredibly honored to have been commissioned by Digital Extremes for this year's Movember glyphs! That's right! Two of them! (technically!)

I was directed to draw a portrait of Baruuk with one of the available Movember mustaches in-game on a colorful background, and later directed to make a black and white version as well!

I tried to get this as highly rendered and detailed as I could within my abilities. This of course was not required of me, but I saw it as a good opportunity to really push my skills like I never have before! Easily the best rendering and detail work I've done and probably will be for quite some time!

I do personally feel the background could be stronger, which is mostly a result of focusing so hard on rendering Baruuk that I forgot to be workshopping the background more at more points of the process. I mostly struggled to come up with a direction for it out of nothing near the end of the project. However, I still like it! I think! To be honest I stared at this piece for so long that I still can't form a straight opinion on it lol

And for fun here's a screenshot of most of the references I used:

The colors of my Sevagoth Prime illustration from a year ago were chosen to be a primary source of color direction for the background initially, which is why much of the background concepting was mostly blues and pinks and such. Some of that is retained in the final piece, but I found that color combo didn't quite fit the vibe as well as I wanted. I eventually landed on a nice golden yellow and some brighter blues for an increased sense of energy and power.
