CatMask's Character Intro
Ancient shadow being, one of it not the last of its kind. One of the first sentient beings on its planet. Has gained some tolerance to sunlight, but magnified sunlight and similar can hurt it. It's a lot more resistant in its disguised form, which is a black cat with brown eyes. Within its disguised, its ability are lessened greatly, it may as well be a mute cat.
A ritual for the dying practice of witchcraft is to send young children into the woods to be chosen by a familiar. CatMask recognized great magic potential within a young boy named Milo and revealed itself. Upon the boy fainting from fright, it carried him back to his home. It then disguised itself as a cat. Milo's mother thus believes a regular cat familiar has chosen her son, clueless to the ancient shadow familiar that now watches over him.
It's a mostly solid creature, so one can reach out and feel it, but one's hand will push slightly into the body. It can deal hits by revealing the white stones in its feet. It's size tends to fluctuate, usually around four or five feet from head to tail. Though in heavy darkness it can stretch out to six or eight feet from head to tail. In bright light it tends to shrink to about three feet from head to tail.
It can bring its mask to the surface of its body, granting it the ability to interact with things. Whenever it grasps onto something with its mask, the teeth grooves will go slanted, giving an impression of sharp, jagged teeth. It seems able to lift several hundred pounds with ease, but its limits are uncertain.
As a familiar, it can guide and potentially teach witches and warlocks spells. It likely has knowledge of every spell and potion to exist in its world. Unable to speak, its unclear how its able to actually relay such information. Just knowing of its vast knowledge and ancient age can make it a target of envy and those that may want to wipe out competition. Despite this, it mostly uses its disguise to protect itself from its physical weaknesses.
As a familiar it can detect the level of magic within a person. It can alert people to when their magic is running low, thus teaching them how to detect this themselves. It's also able to absorb some magical hits and thus act as a bit of a magic shield. Familiars can strengthen spells by sharing some of their magic with the magic castor. It is unable to cast most spells itself.
Woe, weasel be upon ye. It’s Tatz the puck weasel, Asim’s familiar!
This subspecies of puck weasel is called a cutthroat weasel, or a rosycheek weasel depending on the region. Sometimes they are also referred to as “Green Jackets”, but that is more of a general name for several subspecies of puck weasel.
My warlock familiar is EXTRA
Dwarf alligator with long legs, covered in moss, and named Pork Chop.
From a discontinued dnd campaign. Scooter was a good pet!
