Previous plot: Phyllis Haver, a married woman, invites her wealthy lover into her home while her husband is away at work, but when her lover makes a disparaging remark about gold-diggers, she accidentally shoots him, killing him. Haver's husband uses the stolen money to hire a competent lawyer to defend his wife.
"변호사, 검사가 제일 재밌는 영화라면 헤이버 주연의 27년작 Chicago를 꼽고 싶다. 헤이버와 변호사는 재판 전에 헤이버가 제일 무고해 보일 수 있는 손동작을 미리 연습한다. 재판 중에 gentle, sweet, noble 등 변호사가 헤이버를 가리키는 말 하나하나를 할 때마다 헤이버는 그 단어에 어울리는 손동작을 하고, 헤이버의 손동작을 유심히 지켜보던 검사는 헤이버와 변호사가 미리 짠 걸 알게 되면서 고개를 젓는다. 굉장히 좋아하는 씬이다."
