I'm not talking abt cheetz specifically but rather pointing out an expectation brought about by new animated YCHs coming out and the ridiculous expectations people have because of other artists severely underselling their work.
So I saw the YCH cheetz posted recently and they were asked to lower their prices - which is what they did. Keep in mind that this was an AUCTION and SB means starting bid, MIN is reffering to the minimum price increase in the bid and AB means Autobuy. The original prices were:
SB: $450
MIN: $20
AB1: $750-- Clean lineart, coloring, and shading
AB2: $950 -- Changing any part of the animation OR extra art (fullbody of one character/ headshot of 2)
AB3: $1,500 -- Will fully rig & tween characters
Later cheetz lowered the prices to:
SB: $450
MIN: $20
AB1: $750-- Clean lineart, coloring, and shading
AB2: $950 -- Changing any part of the animation OR extra art (fullbody of one character/ headshot of 2)
AB3: $1,500 -- Will fully rig & tween characters
Keep in mind the TOP COMMENT stated that these prices were still too high.
Art is NOT a necessity, it is a luxury good. Not to mention Cheetz isn't just charging for the work put into it, there's a chrage for the exposure to a large audience and the specific style of editing and art that they do as well. 1,500 is NOTHING for a fully rigged and tweened animated video even for a simple one like the one cheetz posted you have NO idea how complicated and difficult tweening is let alone fully animated content if you think that's expensive.
A lot of people in communities such as the warrior cats community who see animated content from online creators often are getting ridiculously entitled and spoiled expecting animations to be pumped out quickly at a high and polished quality consistently and wanting to get these YCHs and commissions at cheap prices. This is absurd and it needs to stop.
i myself am an animator, I am not a well known or famous animator unlike cheetz so there's no way I'd sell anything at this high of a price because I'd have a very small audience and it would be unlikely for me to reach someone who could afford it - but cheetz has a lot of subscribers and a lot more people in the warriors fandom are adults than what you'd initially think so it's ridiculous to say that nobody would buy the animation at these prices! If more of you tried to animate and rig yourselves you wouldn't even consider saying this!
Sorry for the mini rant and how this is more an issue with how people treat artists in general than warriors specifically but I see this issue a lot more in warrior cats spaces than say - pokemon roleplay groups,
