I think if Villeneuve were willing to significantly alter the course of the Paul/Chani romance and expand other weird dynamics present in the text, then it's totally likely that the Duncan/Alia of Dune Messiah might be completely altered too.

There are a lot of reasons that the romance won't fit based on film!canon (including the unsuitability of Jason Mamoa's casting; I don't know how he's going to pull off a Zensunni mystic) but the chief one would be this: based on Part Two, I suspect Alia's main relationship in Messiah will be with her brother. Do with that what you will lol.

I want u to be right so bad 🤞🤞🤞but it is true that denis certainly made choices by introducing alia and her relationship with paul exactly the way he did. additionally maybe we don't need duncan/hayt at all. maybe we can just cut him entirely. jason is probably busy anyway. maybe let's not even check if he's available. let's simply not bother him 🙏
