Elizabeth Olsen x Winona Rider H&M Spring 2018 Campaign, “The Dance”
I figured out why I hate all the “I spent $100 on the $20 worth of food I’m getting from my garden” jokes!
You know what one of the biggest threats to a city garden is? Theft from passers-by. Actually it’s food theft in general - when someone comes and takes every single carrot in the same night, that seems a bit more planned than just someone walking by and deciding to take the food.
And while we’d all like to be able to get to eat some of the food that we put time and effort into growing (meaning that the usual rule of “it’s not theft if you’re eating it there” doesn’t work as well), we agree that if someone’s actually hungry, we don’t mind them taking stuff from the garden as much. (Within reason.) It’s the people who steal a pumpkin which you find smashed just down the road, or the people who steal beets and just leave the leaves behind, or are walking around, looking at the garden, and pull a carrot or pick a bean just to check it out that are really annoying.
I think that part of the problem is the "food comes from the supermarket” idea. People see gardening as a hobby, not as food supplement (and whether or not my time pays for the amount of food we get doesn’t change the fact that the garden gives us food.) So while stealing a kid’s pumpkin just to smash it isn’t really pro-social behaviour to begin with, if people realised that the food they were taking is actual food that someone was planning on eating, rather than just the result of someone’s hobby, I’m pretty sure I’d be a lot more likely to find the same number of plants in my garden in the morning that I left there the night before.
minor manga spoiler!
this is basically my whole mood for this day and it's only 3:42 in the afternoon 😔👈
my mother, a woman who grew up not liking western music, mostly because she couldn’t understand it due to language barrier, just asked me who the guy singing was and then told me that he has a lovely voice and that she likes the song’s energy. hozier’s take me to church was playing.
when shown his picture, she also called him a pretty boy and told me to ask him to get a haircut, and was shocked to know that i did not know him personally, but that’s not what we’re talking about-
Blood is the ink which writes the history of the world, is it not?
A line I dropped for an npc in our pathfinder game but will almost certainly put in Michiru's mouth eventually
i mean between JR asking petra if she’s in love with jane, all the LOOKS that were exchanged between the two, petra complimenting alba . . . as isolated events they seem like nothing but together . . . i swear they’re hinting at us
