"men are so bitter" "that girl is really pretty…like in a basic way" these are only a few of the things Sarah mutters under her breath in class
My poli sci professor just compared Ebola to Kim Kardashian??? Honestly what kind of reach

where can i get duochromes~~~
there are lots of places to get duochromes, but the best way to go about it is to jump into the world of indie cosmestics.
if you don't want to go there: the specific shade i'm wearing today is the right definer shade from the wet n wild comfort zone palette, which is a pretty great deal overall because it's $5 regular price and i know that rite aid has wet n wild 40% off pretty often. this shade is commonly regarded as a dupe for mac's blue brown pigment too.
if you're willing to take the plunge into indies (i only have recently myself but it's great), there are some great places to start off with:
shiro cosmetics - probably one of the best brands esp for a newbie, they've got a great turn around time and some awesome collections, including an avengers collection and a lotr collection. they've got some great duochromes (i'm wearing mother of dragons in these pictures and i love a maid in these).
shiro has also recently started stocking femme fatale, which is an australian brand super well regarded for their duochromes (candied apple is an especially popular shade) but shiro is out of stock right now and ff is closed for the month (a lot of shops got overloaded during black friday) so you might have to wait a little if you'd like to try them out.
fyrinnae - another well-loved brand. they do have the occasional complaints about their shop being intermittently down, but their eyeshadows are worth it for the most part. they've got two different types - their regular duochromes and their arcane shadows, the latter of which have an even stronger color shift.
darling girl is another brand that I've heard good things about, but they're also closed for the month.
while i'm at it I'm also going to plug hello waffle, less so for duochromes but they also have great shadows, and I just got an order from their catssic literature collection, which is eyeshadows that are based on cat puns about classic literature (I just got jk meowling, the great catsby, edgar all prr, and catticus finch). they're also closed until january but worth checking out then.
when using duochromes, it's a little more than a matter of just using the shadow like you would with something out a palette. while a lot of these shadows look great just on bare skin or over primer, to really bring out the color you need a little something more. this can just be applying it wet (what i did today was apply the shadow over a primer all over and then apply it wet on the lid for more concentration there) or else over a sticky base. the most popular sticky bases are fyrinnae's pixie epoxy or darling girl's glitter glue but i've also heard okay things about elf's glitter primer and too faced's glitter glue.
i very much recommend indies - the biggest downside is that because the brands are run by one or two people for the most part, the turn around time can seem a little long. but the customer service is amazing (you have a problem, send an email, and most brands are really great about getting back to you soon), the color options are much more expansive, and really it's cheaper. you can get a lot of samples for $1 (shiro especially) and honestly even a sample will last you a while so you can try out lots of colors. there are also lots of swatches out there, so if there's a color you're not sure about you can google "[name] swatches" and usually get at least a few pictures to see what they're like. indie brands are also really great about disclosing all of their ingredients, so if you have any allergies or are vegan you know exactly what you're getting.
I realize this may be a little more than you asked for, but I hope it helps! if you have any other questions I can try my best to answer them.

WE'RE DOING A THING
Sarah and I want to make a short film about identity, especially concerning the reconciliation of multiple identities. Our society likes to deal in absolutes, rather than shades of grey. We are told to be one thing. But, as we all know, the truth resists simplicity. People aren't ever just one thing. We are many things. But when it comes to identity, especially ethnicity, we are told we can only be one thing, otherwise we'll be nothing. And frankly, we have a problem with that.
We want to make a film (or a ~something~) that explores these difficulties (or simplicities, depending on your POV) in defining our identities. But, as is its purpose, we want it to be multi-faceted. We don't want one story, we want many. So if you have an opinion, a story, a sentence, a novel – anything – about this subject area, send it to [email protected].
If you think there's an aspect of this experience that we've overlooked, send it along as well. It doesn't have to be about being mixed race, although it can be. We're not sure what the result is going to look like (short form doc, narrative, etc.) but in the final product, we'd like to thank everyone who sent us messages, so write your name and hometown in your email. If you'd like to remain anonymous, however, you do not have to sign the email.
Even if you don't want to participate, a reblog would be much obliged.
