[ about ] parents met in college at university of washington / sort of a star-crossed lovers deal - dad was a rich pre-med, mom was an aspiring elementary art school teacher / they both valued different things, which at first seemed like it would work to their benefit / dad went to med school, mom started working, things seemed fine for a little while / mom thought dad’s dreams of being a pediatric surgeon were sweet and worthwhile, and when he set his sights on plastic surgery, her views on him changed very quickly / still, one kid in and banking on a few more, she decided to stick around / after three kids and hours that got longer and longer and longer - hours spent at work and hours spent with one of his fellow doctors combined - they decided to call it quits /  infidelity and long work hours considered, mom was given custody of the kids / she moved back to mangata, her hometown, moved the kids into a small condo and tried to raise them humbly / trips in the summer and on breaks and weekends to dad’s fancy mansion outside of las vegas didn’t help much, and it’s questionable whether she passed her grounded nature onto any of them - and especially not rowen / what started as a pretty innocent, precocious nature quickly blossomed into something worse / pretentious and stuck up, vain and competitive, manipulative and at times cruel / always had a knack for art, one thing he did get from his mom and, naturally, something his dad absolutely hated / created somewhat a name for himself in town for being a charmer at best and a slut at worst / always felt like he experienced things more intensely than others, like a true artsy piece of shit! / went away to film school at usc, where he thrived for a little while before, like most things, he got sick of it and bolted / living in a nice penthouse apartment that his dad pays for right now, trying to avoid his mom and siblings’ wrath in the mean time / selfish, capricious, and immature, but also sensitive and spontaneous and fun / overall, mostly well-meaning but misguided and changes with the wind

tw: death of a child  about: bec needs everything honestly!!! she’s lived in mangata basically her whole life. she was born to a relatively well-known family and lived a pretty happy, normal life tbh. had her “rebellious” stage where she basically thought she could make it big as a singer (lol) that didn’t work out so she went back to school and trained to be a nurse. met her husband when she definitely wasn’t looking for a relationship - they got married, had two kids and she got a job at the hospital.... then things all went to shit. first her family scandal and then her husband and two kids were involved in a car crash - her husband and daughter survived but her three year old son died. that was just over a year ago: her husband moved out and don’t ask her how she picked up the pieces because she doesn’t know, she just did. (again: lol) basically she’s a mess but she hides it really well. she’s your mom friend, the girl who always has a plan... but also definitely appreciates a glass of wine with friends and maybe has 5 minute cries in the toilets at work on her bad days but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.
