[ long road trips, worn down friendship bracelets, walking in the front door without knocking and sitting down at dinner with yourĀ family, riding carts through empty grocery store aisles at 3am, skipping all the friday nights lights to hang out together, rocks thrown at windows, that favorite diner where you know all the employees intimately, shared clothes andĀ drinks and ex-boyfriends, crying at grad partiesĀ ]
tw: suicide attempt
no one is really sure when they all became friends, but after it happened they were rarely apart, rarely seen with anyone else. walking down some backroad in a horde, driving down the freeway at 100 miles an hour, manning the pong table at the parties they were known for throwing in high school. in truth, theyāve been close since elementary school, all living in the same neighborhood, when one summer the girls and boys crossed paths and decided to consolidate friend groups.Ā
obviously, being the mixed group that it was, they had to make sure that no one altered the dynamics of the friendship by getting romantically involved. so, they all made a pact that nothing would happen between them.Ā
still, they experienced everything else together. they were all close by when they had their first kisses, their first joint, their first heartbreak, and for all manner of things good or bad. the friendship wasnāt exactly forged by fire, but with time -- mostly.
boy 2 was always the one holding them all together. he was hardly the parent of the group, but he was the one always willing to just be there. every time someone needed him. what none of them really knew was that he needed all that help themselves.
in their freshman year of high school, he made an attempt to kill himself, and several members of the group walked in to find him unconscious. they effectively saved his life, but none of them were equipped to deal with the knowledge that the person who seemed the strongest and stablest of them all was in fact the most vulnerable.
the event galvanized an already-strong bond and forced them to re-pledge themselves to the group and the promises they had made to each other. thatās why it felt like such a betrayal when tj and boy 1 slept together at the end of senior year, ending tjās friendship with the rest of the group, more on her own terms than anything.
the group hasnāt been quite the same since then, always feeling sort of empty. now, though, the sixth piece is back in town and only time will tell whether time has been able to heal their old wounds and stitch the found-family back together.
SO, below the cut i have some aesthetics and little blurbs for the other five characters, but i donāt want to dictate everything! i want to work out dynamics, create a timeline for them throughout the years, and ultimately figure out where the next step for them is! whether the rest of them stayed friends or not, whether they left orlando or not, whatever! my only stipulation is they should be the same year as tj because they grew up together. if you have any questions, comments, concerns, pls donāt hesitate to hit me up here or on discord (š£ morgan š£#3278)!
[ TJ COPSEY ] Ā the goody-two-shoes | 22, haley lu richardson, morgan
//Ā no one ever really believed that tj was really friends with the rest of them. straight-aĀ student, parents at every PTA meeting, and top-tierĀ brownnoser, she never really fit in with the rest of them. she didnāt even truly live within the bounds of theirĀ neighborhood, but right outside of it with its crystal-clear pool and trimmed hedges and perfect family unit inside. the mom of the group, she stayed sober and watched after all of herĀ friends at every party. the one party she did drink at, the night of graduation, she ended up sleeping with boy 1 and breaking the pact theyād worked so carefully to keep up through their ten years of friendship. needless to say, it didnāt go over well and she spent the year before freshman year of college by herself. even when the rest of them tried to reach out later, before she went several hoursĀ away to georgia tech, her pride got in the way and sheās been avoiding every phone call and text, every visit on breaks. now, though, sheās back in orlando post-grad and trying to navigate the situation.
[ BOY 1 ] the angst machine, reserved for jenn
Ā // the boy with the Traumatic Past, boy 1Ā cycled through several foster homes before finding himself in the little cul-de-sacĀ where heād call home. the family wasnāt perfect, but they were better than the ones heād had in the preceding eight years. he fell in quickly with the neighbor boys, and although he was absolutely aĀ bad influence, their families too. heās always had a bad rep and a bad attitude, but to sayĀ that the group had a soft spot for him would be the understatement of the century. he could get away with bloody murder and, honestly, he kind of did when it turned out that tj gotĀ kicked out of the group for doing the same thing he got off scot free for. still, like everything else inĀ his life, itās something heās been quiteĀ opportunistic aboutĀ moping about. really, heās not a chip on his shoulder and a woe-is-me attitude about life, and only like 50% of it is warranted.Ā
[ GIRL 2 ] the manic pixie dream girl,Ā reserved for maddie
//Ā girl 2 had always been rebellious, but she wasnāt always like that. honestly, she read books about girls that got every guy and made everyoneās head turnĀ when she was young, and she ate that shit up. sheās wildly smart and always has been, but not many people would know because she hardly opened her mouth in high school. always acted like she was a guyās girl, latching onto the boys in the group, but in truth she wouldāve given her life for anyone in the group. she wasĀ the one that really spearheaded the oust tj campaign, notĀ because she hated her or wanted boy 1 toĀ herself, butĀ because she took any betrayal of the group incredibly seriously.
[ BOY 2 ] the glue
//Ā grew up in an average family (divorced parents, naturally), in an average suburban home with beige carpet and beige walls, with average grades and average talent and average everything -- or so he thought. becoming friends with these people was probably the best thing that ever happened to him and heād say it, but that didnāt help in his struggles with mental health. after his attempt, he hated the way everyone started toĀ walk on eggshells around him. in response, he did something with his life: he didĀ whatever the fuck he wanted. more than likely, he has spent the past four years backpacking europe or #vanlifing or doing shrooms in a field in the middle of idaho. who knows, but heās living, at least.
[ GIRL 3 ] the prom queen,Ā reserved for alex
//Ā sheās beauty, sheās grace, sheāll literally spit in your face. probably the poorest of them all; she grew up living with her mom and siblings in the basement apartment of some creepy old guy in theĀ neighborhood. mom had awful boyfriends, worked late, youĀ know the drill. but girl 3 hated the life she was living, so she changed it. she was never book smart, but she was people smart. she knew how to win people over and, moreĀ importantly, how to make people simultaneously fear and love her. she was the regina george of their high school, the only one that really had a separate friend group outside of theirs, but the other five were home to her. she spent most of her nights atĀ someone elseās house, became all of theirĀ parentsā adopted child. wildly independent, yet always trying to find comfort in someone else.
[ BOY 3 ] the class clown president, reserved for emily
//Ā probably never been serious aĀ day in his life, and canāt lead a group for shit, but someone became the class president in high school despite it. he has a way with people, between his charming demeanor, sense of humor and good looks, but he doesnāt really know what to do with it. could probably beĀ president of the united states of america if he tried, but he literally never has.Ā

love prospers was a kansas ccity-based nonprofit that, in the mid-90s, has an impeccable reputation as a godly, benevolent organization intent on bringing local missourians to better circumstances by forgiving, and helping themselves forgive, their faults. they stumbled into seven devils in 1997 and could feel the moral rot and spiritual decay that existed there, so they started an initiative. in 1998, they raised enough money to begin building on a townhome complex. to create an environment within the town of ambitiousness to be better, they called on people to admit their faults through a lengthy application process. many families applied, but only five were successful.Ā
the families moved into their new homes in 200 and, for a while, the program was ultra successful. the parents stayed out of trouble, the children excelled in school and became great friends.Ā
or so it seemed.
in truth, the parents only got smarter with their misdeeds. they continued to drink, smoke, and party. they sold drugs throughout and outside the complex ā but they gave the illusion of having it together.Ā
all of that changed in 2003, when a suspected overdose at a party thrown at the complex and included every no-good resident of seven devils that could crawl from the gutter to get there. the police and the media came and revealed what was really happening there, and love prospers was forced to pull funding. after all, it wouldnāt be good for their now-fading image to be funding a 24-hour party.Ā
in the years since, the townhomes have fallen into disrepair and faded from the minds of anyone who matters. the townspeople turn their noses up, while the police drive by every now and then to pretend to hold the families accountable.Ā
as for the children living there, they have become a big, dysfunctional family. they raised each other, they acted as parents both good and bad to their neighbors and friends. they had their first drinks, smoked their first joint, and often had their first kisses under the falling awnings of the complex pool. outcast from the rest of the town, they found solace in each other.
[ BENNETT FAMILY ]Ā everyone knew that millie shaw didnāt belong with leonard bennett, but she didnāt listen. leaving her common sense at the curb, the couple eloped at a rather young age and dove headfirst into a destructive marriage. they relocated from the dangerous streets of detroit to a run-down house in a town known as seven devils, and have been here ever since. Ā after growing extremely paranoid about bringing his children up in a life of poverty, leonard turned to cooking and distributing methamphetamines. and once leo realized that he was one of the best cooks in seven devils, he became tunnel visioned and obsessed with drug manufacturing. it wasnāt until millie was pregnant with their third child that shit really started to hit the fan. nearly three weeks before christmas, the family awoke to blaring fire alarms and growing flames .. the shed had caught fire; its flames burning so hot inches from the run-down place the bennettās called home. following theĀ

[ CALHOUN FAMILY ] natives to seven devils with a long history of being troublemakers. their dad was a rolling stone chasing a pipe dream, leaving their mom to raise three rambunctious kids. she applied to live in the townhomes to give them some stability, which was a nice idea but ultimately futile. ~10ish years ago, he went out and never came back. no one's really sure what happened to him. made their already-shitty circumstances worse as their mom tried (and failed) to cope. raised each other. all up to no good all the time, but they look out for each other.

[ KELLEY FAMILY ] straight-up white trash. the kids had two different dads, neither of whom stuck around for very long, and one of whom has spent a lot of time in prison. jana, their mother, is practically famous for her taste in abusive, aggressive deadbeats. but you have to hand it to her: she used the facts in her application for a townhome, and hell, she got one. however, it didn't have that much of an impact on setting her kids on the straight and narrow. in some ways, they're as bad as she is.

[ LINWOOD FAMILY ] the linwoods were initially chosen for the complex because the family patriarch - andrew - was fresh on parole after a brief stint behind bars. while they were barely scrapping by financially, they were happy and stable ā at least at first. andrew and rebecca were high school sweethearts living their domestic bliss dreams with two kids and a baby on the way when andrew unexpectedly passed. rebecca never recovered from the loss, and plunged into a dark world of paranoia and hallucinations. the oldest sibling essentially took on the role of caretaker at a young age, and can be credited for the family not falling completely apart.Ā

[ WICKENS FAMILY ] the wickens are an old name in seven devils, one that everyone whoās been here is well aware of. theyāre the ones stealing your cars and breaking into your houses - even if it wasnāt them, theyāre the ones you blame it on. every generation they say theyāll change the cycle, and every generation they fail: a family of pipe dreamers and schemers, doomed to fail. the patriarch, wes wickens, thought the military would be his solution but ended up with an early discharge, a drinking problem and ptsd. he married their mother, who was a sweet and unassuming women, and she wanted more for them - hence, she applied for the townhome and got it. itās just too bad she couldnāt stick around long enough to make it work.Ā

never figured out how to be his own person, instead latching onto the closest fully-articulated person and happily playing second fiddleāor third, or fourth or⦠/ always hiding behind and from the knowledge that heās just not good (enough, or at all, take your pick) / probably the only person in history to leave some big fancy place to come to seven devils, missouri / barely smiles, thinks it makes him mysterious / too pale to be from california / wildly insecure, wildly codependent / awfully fragile for such a literally large presence ā growing up, he was coddled physically yet all-but-abused emotionally / longs for safety, security, family, but mostly just anything at all
Ā·Ā· needs / he just moved here, sowing his wild oats or whatever (as his father would say) because he wasnāt doing jack shit in california and his mother practically had a cow over it; i imagine that such a small town might spark up at a new person, so maybe there are people trying to be friends with him / he clings very quickly to people, probably due to the mommy issues, so relationships of all kinds are welcome to be basically entirely one-sided / he works as a cashier somewhere so if you also have a cashier or a business hit my line and we can confer
ā billy wickens Ā· the devil/the empress
expected better than he got, but these things really never change / one in a long line of neāer-do-wells ā everyone knows the wickens name, but they only say it with a bitterness and a snide remark / everyone always thought he would be the one to do more, and he did for a hot-white, blinding moment / one semester at wash u before he realized it was nothing more than a pipe dream / became his parents, his cousins, every wickens in the whole history of āem, when he started running drugs / whatās worse, selling out for survival or barely surviving just to sell out? / too smart for his own good, which is the saddest part of it all / got caught by the cops recently and although itāsĀ nothing arrestable, now heās on their radar and heās trying hard not to totally seal his fate
Ā·Ā· needs / he grew up here and his roots run deep but i donāt imagine many people would bother with him outside of the riff raff of sd / heās a nice, genuine guy, though. heās likely to make fast friends with anyone whoāll give him the time of day / maybe someone can take him under their wing if they see how much potential heās got, and try and turn his life around before itās irreparable? / anything really!!
i may do an actual request at some pt but i wanted to put feelers out for a messy tragicool poor ratty group of friends that grew up together!! basically about 20 yrs ago a nonprofit rolled into seven devils with knowledge of its many problematic inhabitants and a will to change the fabric of the town ā so they set up a program for struggling residents: freshly out of jail, addicted to drugs, involved in a lifestyle they wanted to get out of, suffering with mental illness and grief and all of the issues rampant in seven devils. so many people applied to live in a new townhome complex built just for them, with state of the art amenities for their families and the promise of a better life for their kids ā and five families won. it only took a few years before the adults fell back into their old ways and the nonprofit pulled funding. the complex descended into decay and disarray as parents opted for booze over repairs, and the area became a hazard zone ā one no respectable citizens would go near. the one thing left was the kids, who stuck together because they were all they had. they raised each other, supported each other, dated and hated each other, but overall they formed a bond immune to the passage of time or sore spots that arose throughout the years.
so, more or less a ~*~found family~*~ type deal. there are three families already, so two are up for grabs! itāll offer lots of friend, romantic, enemy, and familial connections on top of lots of fun drama and excitement!! iām thinking the kids should be around 18ālate 20s since they all moved in abt 20 years ago. i would love to hash out relationships with anyone who takes it so feel free to hit me on discord (š£ morgan š£#3278) if u want

ft. FiLm GiRl ShIt, greta gerwig weeping in the distance, the secret to why her instagram looks so good, henry bryden, ellie martin, georgia west (and some shady drug dealing tactics), & the super troupe
ruby louise church / ridiculously average background, grew up in the suburbs of chicago with two whole parents and two older siblings / youngestĀ child syndrome to a fault / ridiculously spoiled but refused to admit it / grew up with a speech impediment that she got bullied terribly for, only banished by years upon years of speech therapy / once she did, though, she resolved to never stop talking - and to take every bit of anger sheād pent up for years on the people whoād created it / precocious then and perhaps even more precocious now / marginally famous in some corners of the internet for a video that went viral on early youtube / always knew she was meant to perform for the world / had her heart set on nyu from a young age, notĀ realizing how much of a hardship itād be for her family / but when she got in her poor parents said, sure, weāll find a way to pay for it, honey! / basic bitch who reinvented herself as a socially-smoking, cinephile acting studentĀ once she came to the city / her parents couldnāt, realistically, a fact they told her at the beginning of this year - pushing her to transfer to an u of i (ātheyāre great schools, sweetie, and itāll be good for you to be home!ā) /Ā instead of that she got involved in just a teensy weensy bit of low-stakes drug dealing, making up stories of behind-the-scenes jobs and comedy gigs as a cover for her parents / not afraid of anything, which may be her achilles heel
needs / serial dater-and-hookup-er, so lots of those - boyfriends that start wildly passionate and burn out when she gets bored or they get sick of her antics, and tinder dates that she humps and dumps like itās her job / her improv troupe! pls / nyu friends from all walks of life. sheāll strike up friends with anyone, in public or online, become best friends with them for a few days or weeks before usually flaking / would love a ride or die couple of friends from her freshman dorm who sheāll probably say helped her ~find a home~ and ~find herself~ in the big ol city / wannabe actors who starred as extras on this or that with her / etc etc
there is almost nothing that quite captures the aura of high school theatre better than college improv. full of the all the same hormones, tension and inflated egos, but with more free time and free-flowing substances. improv is where former class clowns come to die. some are young amy peoplers, but most are people who are riding the high of being told they had a comedic voice in ninth grade.
due to the schoolās competitive theater programs and proximity to new york cityās own thriving improv scene,Ā improv at new york university is flourishing, but itās competitive as hell. auditions in late august every year result in more than a few broken hearts and bruised egos, freshman sulking back to their dorm rooms and, for some, hanging up their comedy hats forever.
but some persevere.
in august of 2018, a group of rejects from the then-five longstanding troupes on campus decided to band together and form their own troupe. maybe their timing was a little off or their yes-and was routinely lacking, but that wasnāt something they couldnāt fix with a little practice, and the aspiring comics and actors and writers were convinced that despite it all, they were destined to become an improv super-troupe.
staff meeting started with eight members and began having intensive practices almost immediately, molding each member into the best performer they could be. over the past year and a half, the group has become something of legend. theyāre known for beefing with every other group (perhaps bitterly) and for highlighting the flaws and cracks of their university through comedy. theyāre modern and innovative in a palatable way, cutting-edge and not afraid to go where no improver has gone before - at least, they think so.
last semester, after an post-show-gone-wrong and a university investigation that found several of the members to be at fault, theyāre down a few spots and now have to rebuild from the ground up - and scale up their operations, at that. tensions are high, but theyāve become a (slightly incestuous, iāll have to admit)Ā family through it all and are in dire need of newbies to add to it before they start gearing up for performance.
this request is all about having fun, playing on the tensions of a group who wants to badly to succeed and actually was succeeding until fate intervened. they spend so much time together practicing and perfecting that theyāve become almost too close for comfort, which can and has resulted in both negative and positive outcomes.Ā
