The Denali Star Aug. 11, 2009 -- 6 Photos by Marty Bernard Via Flickr: The Star heading to Denali National Park where all of the cruise ship passengers and some of the ARR passengers will detrain. It will continue to Fairbanks arriving about 8:00 p.m. 

These photographs were taken around 10:00 a.m. on the morning of August 11, 2009 east (RR north) of Wasilla, AK from the Pittman Road grade crossing at the north end of the Pittman siding. As you will see, the northbound Denali Star was one big train that pleasant summer morning with 1.5 SD70MACs pulling it and half a MAC providing HEP for the ARR cars. The cruise ship cars were self contained. The 17 cars were an Alaska Railroad baggage car, six ARR passenger cars, and ten cruise ship passenger cars.
