Do the math. To save the 1.6 trillion the government spends by firing employees that make 50,000 dollars a year you would have to fire 32 million employees.
I think people look at redundancy and red tape and run around and personal bad experiences with government agency. DMV, post office, IRS, OSHA, and so on are agencies that come to mind that could give reason for those experiences.
Too be sure, there are redundancies. There absolutely is waste in the government. A realistic revue and assessment is long overdue. But that much investigation cannot be done by an unconcerned, unapproved, multi-billionaire over night by simply emailing 32 million people and saying, “Time to kick rocks, buddy.”
And the people who would like to see reductions in government (myself included) must see that.
I might add, that while my simple calculation is correct, but would be altered by some that make more or less than 50K/ year. But I also think it is not me that needs to take that into consideration. No, that needs to be done with a fine tooth comb by auditors of government spending. They need to use a scalpel for these cuts and not a chainsaw. And luckily, they exist. They are called congresspersons. If they would do their jobs, it would not be necessary to fight against this bullshit now.
