hi! i'm jillian, i'm about to start my last year of college, i'm a writer, and i've spent the last week of my life immersed in tjlc. i watched sherlock in high school but i forgot about it for a while and just rewatched everything right after tst aired, and holy shit. i haven't been able to think about anything else. 🔍🔍🔍
Wow, same???? That must mean the show is good, right?? We’re not crazy????

why are we doing this tonight!!!
because i drank half a bottle of margarita mix !!!!!!!!
what are you reading rn? I totally have a bunch of books and pdfs of things I should read but for some reason I'm struggling with what to do first.
books i have lying around in various stages of reading:
the argonauts by maggie nelson
sleepless nights by elizabeth hardwick
get in trouble by kelly link
vampires in the lemon grove by karen russell
fledgling by octavia butler
red doc by anne carson
so basically lady books
but also i am trying to read every book written by marjorie kinnan rawlings for the first chapter of my dissertation. i highly recommend her memoir cross creek, about the orange grove and farm she owned and ran in florida for over 10 years.
and i’ve secretly been reading lots of books about ecofeminist paganism thru my oyster subscription - the twelve wild swans and the earth path by starhawk are both really interesting.
I've been meaning to ask about your ballet class for a while, and then you posted that picture on insta with the great purple wall so now I'm asking about it (as someone who has experience with ballet and dance studios). what's the studio like? do you take a class with a bunch of other people or is it sort of open sometimes for people to practice on their own?
i take class once a week with a bunch of other people! it's open enrollment, so people drop in and out pretty regularly, but there's a little core of us who are there pretty much every week. it's adult beginner and we have people at all skill levels (some really good and coming back from injury, some like me who are very very beginner). i snapped that pic right before class began which is why i'm the only one in the frame.
isn't that purple wall great? all the rooms at the studio are color coded (purple, blue, yellow, etc) and have gorgeous exposed brick work.
there's a huge range of classes for kids and adults, from beginning to advanced, and some open studio time (usually taken up by the more advanced students), and a few dance troupes who use the studio for practice. it's very lively!
confession: my roommate and I just stocked up on candy at cvs so we can sneak it into movies all weekend. also I bought a second pair of high-waisted jeans because ONCE YOU GO HIGH-WAISTED YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK.
excellent friday night, id say
also fight the power, movie theatre food is way too expensive

my goal is at least 4 days a week, but i think even just 2 days a week is a better place to start. I need to get into a habit.
this sounds good to me! i'll probably try for tuesdays and thursdays since i don't teach those days.
ghost!
Ghost: Do you have any regrets?
oh god, so many. i try not to think about them too much because that's toxic and awful, but yeah. yeah. i have fucked up some stuff in my life. doesn't everybody.
