Translation notes:
The title (and chorus) of this song "ai rabu iu" is a play on words- "ai" is the Japanese word for love, "rabu" is the English word "love", and then "iu" sounds like "you" in English, but it's also the Japanese verb "to say".
So "ai rabu iu" sounds like the English phrase "I love you", but the "iu" portion is written with the kanji for "to say". Thus it's like "I'll say I love (you)" (subjects are naturally omitted from Japanese so this makes sense for Japanese listeners even though the object "you" technically isnt there).
It also literally is like "love love I'll say". lol. god
He alternates between saying "I'll tell you that I love you" in Japanglish with this play on words, and saying it normally in Japanese "anata ga suki da to iu". At the very end he switches "iu" from the kanji "to say" to properly saying "you" in English, in Japanese (lol)...

*Chatmonchy was a Japanese rock band that was active until 2017. Apparently the song he’s referring to is ハナノユメ, according to this interview. He says he was watching a live video of it and it moved him.
**Blankey=Blankey Jet City, another rock band that was active until 2000.
***8 mat room refers to the traditional tatami mat sizing of Japanese rooms. 8 mat is actually on the larger size.
I finished translating this and was like, so what does starting from C mean LOL
In the interview linked Shibata talks about how he gave up on music for a while, and only made his major debut with Wasureranneyo at 28. So he’s starting a little late (from C)! I think!
My other two cents is that a 6 tatami room is the standard room size in Japan. So by mentioning the 8 tatami I believe he's pointing out that he's well off (via working a stable job) but unhappy.
