Every time I come across Hikaru Nara, be it the original or a cover, I will always press play. Without fail. There’s been a few English versions on YouTube but I recently came across this one by Studio Yuraki. I think it’s the best one so far. The actual translation was also pretty accurate. In fact it was so good, that it had me feeling all those Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso feels.
I watched this anime after it had completed airing, and as such I already knew the ‘big’ spoiler at the end. But upon watching it, I realised how much more this anime was. It wasn’t just about Kousei and Kaori. It wasn’t just a romantic drama. We saw so many stories. There was dealing with change. Overcoming guilt. Moving on from past. Finding your place in this great big world. As well as slowly coming into age. And much MUCH more.
This anime reminded me of when I was that age. I remember that my middle school graduation was far more emotional than my high school one. There’s something about that step we have to take towards our future. We start separating from our childhood friends, we find ourselves in unfamiliar places, changing and moving forward towards those goals we have to set for ourselves at such a young age.
Now whether or not that’s a good thing is an entirely different topic. But I think that at that age we're still finding ourselves. Then we’re pushed to decide what were going to pursue in the future. The high school you go to, the subjects you choose, all affect our future. (This post is already too long so I’ll leave it there. But I’m sure you can see what I’m driving at).
So here I shall abruptly end it.
