I am Maria Theresia. Archduchess of Austria. My father, Charles VI, tasked me with the government of the dominions after him. Europe promised him support and let itself be payed greatly for it. But the promise was not worth the paper it was written down on. Prussia swore friendship and betrayed me first. France, to whom we had given Lorraine, the Bavarians, our brothers, they all deviously stabbed me in the back. I stand in front of you betrayed by my friends, chased by my enemies, abandoned by my closest relatives. My only salvation is you. You Hungarians, these proud and brave people, and... in my arrogance I hurt a valuable person’s honor and lost his friendship through this. I do not deserve you favor but... you see me here as a mother of a defenseless child, as a mother of a whole nation, as a defenseless woman that can only call on your bravery. My realm, my child, and I are in danger. I confide myself to your protection. And I promise to uphold all Hungarian rights.
