Watched: Jap BL - Kamisama no Eikohiiki (2022)
Wow, I honestly stumbled on to this show from TikTok clips and was not expecting much since I dislike body swap dramas...but damn.
***SPOILERS***
I JUST WATCHED THE HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE WITH MY MOM (and my dad but he was sleeping) AND WE BOTH LAUGHED SO MUCH, I NEVER SAW HER LAUGHING THIS MUCH IN A COMEDY FILM, THANK YOU MR WAITITI FOR MAKING MY MOM HAPPY.

Envy/Desire: a radical feminist review nobody asked for
I honestly find self shipping incredibly disturbing and dystopian and it's insane to see... it. 🤨
Watched: Thai BL - My Engineer The Series (2020)
Every time I finish a series I really like, I always think I am going to do a review for myself but end up not doing it....so I am going to start now.
****SPOILERS****
Shitty Summary
The story of an egoistic engineering student (because all BLs must have engineers) who falls in love with tsundere medical student at first glance + their other gay friends
Yays:
the side pairs; Ngl I started watching for BohnDuen but stayed for the rest. What can I say? Pretty well-developed storylines + distinctive characteristics + chemistry between the pairs make for a good BL. I especially loved the storyline between King and Ram and their development from friends to more-than-friends and none of that awkward acting we usually see in BL. TharaFrong? Never knew I could get into them because I disliked Frong originally but I guess it is because he is meant to be with our lizard-loving Thara?
that ep they addressed the top/bottom discourse because YES personality and appearance does not mean top/bottom. Bonus: they subverted the r*pe trope in the following ep with a leg waxing lol
no stupid females. I cannot stress enough the use of women in BL to basically struck discord and make everyone hate them. Fong was so gracious with MekBoss) although Boss let her down and all and obv TingTing is all of us lol
last episode. The cute moments for each couple had me pausing the video every few minutes cos I needed to take some time to calm down lol. The last episode also solidified the chemistry for me for MekBoss and BohnDuen, which were not as obvious in the previous episodes
second season! First season was generally well-paced with good characters and because the second season was already planned, they did not have to pack and squeeze everything in the first which equals better development? (I hope?)
Nays:
BohnDuen. Yes, they are the main pair, and yes, they had a cute ending. But they are quite the problematic pair that stands out in their sea of unproblematic friends. Bohn: pushy overly jealous dude who flies off the handle at every little thing. Duen: a shy boii who apparently has issues communicating his boundaries. Result? A relationship with no real communication about their expectations. I kind of disliked how they brushed off the main issue at hand for a happy ending in the last episode but well...I guess they needed to keep viewers happy
Final Thoughts
9/10! It was cute and would totally rewatch it
