2, 4, 8, 13, 16b for Adi; 7, 10, 12, 18 for Emiri; 3, 5, 9, 10, 17 for Tavi?
2. Where is your Watcherās favourite place in the world? Tell us a little about why itās so special to them.
Adiās very favorite place is her room. She has lots of books, itās well-lit for studying, a couple different cozy chairs to sit in, a desk, she has her own fireplace so can make tea whenever she wantsā¦. itās perfect.
4. Which traits does your Watcher admire in others? Are they traits that they themselves exhibit, or something that they aspire to be more like?
She admires kindness, unorthodox thinking, curiosity, loyalty(but not blind loyalty), ingenuity, and persistence. Most of those she has, but her thought process is mostly creative within the confines of what she knows, so not terribly unorthodox. so that one she admires bc itās something she wishes she had. But the others are things she both values and possess herself.
8. Were there any companions that your Watcher did not get along with? What was it about them that they did not care for?
Nope. At least not in Pillars 1. She didnāt even recruit Durance, so he doesnāt count, and she got along with everyone else. She and Aloth butt heads occasionally over animancy, but theyāre still friends. Iām still figuring out her Deadfire gameāsheās still in Port Majeābut I think Maiaās the only one she might not get along with there? Not sure.
13. Is your Watcher a natural leader, or was it something that they had to adapt to?
Not necessarily aĀ ānatural leaderā so much as sheās just so friendly and cheerful andāusuallyāconfident about what sheās doing, her people donāt have any concerns about following her. Sheās not as charming and persuasive as you might expect for a Natural Leaderā¢, sheās just happy. And thinks things through, so she has a good reason for the choices she makes, which leads to her goingĀ āLetās do Xā and her friends goingĀ āSounds goodāĀ
16. Does your Watcher have any major regrets about something that they have done?
Nothing major, but thereās a tiny little part of her thatāno matter how much she denies it or tries to ignores itāwill always regret not going to the Selona Academy. Itās a weird feeling, because she doesnāt regret putting her family first, or the friends sheās made(adventures sheās had) thanks to becoming Watcher, but she wonders sometimes what mightāve happened if sheād gone to the Academy.Ā
10. Does your Watcher have any close ties outside of their companions, whether friends, family or lovers? Do they keep in regular contact with them?
She has a pretty close relationship with the Caed Nua staff. Itās still ruler/servant, but verges on friendship with a lot of them(yes, the beginning of Deadfire fucks her up the worst out of all my Watchers), and sheās kind and understanding and listens to complaints and tries to make their jobs as easy as possible.Ā
Sheās also friends with an Aedyran thayn, Alden Brethart, who Iāve mentioned in a couple of her fics. Theyāve bonded over being tall(heās folk, but, like, 6ā²5ā³), and are pen pals in between rare but treasured visits.
12. Does your Watcher believe it is better to tell hard truths or well-meaning lies?
Depends on the severity, but sheās so compassionate sheās usually going to come down on the side of well-meaning lies. She doesnāt want to hurt peopleās feelings. Even if she knows, intellectually, the truth is better in the long run, she just⦠canāt do it. Her first preference is to phrase the truth as diplomatically as possible, but if itās brutal honesty or a white lie/fudging things for the sake of feelings, sheāll most likely go with the latter.
18. Tell us a little about your Watcherās past life. How does your Watcher feel about their past life? How would their past life feel about them?
Iā¦. honestly donāt have anything worked out for her Inquisitor self. I donāt even remember what she said for her relationship to Iovara. Oops. Guess I better work on thatā¦
3. How did your Watcher feel about Caed Nua? Were they excited to have their own keep, or did they view it as more of an obligation?
Oh, itās an obligation. A leg iron, shackling her with responsibility and holding her still when sheād rather be adventuring. Thereās a reason she essentially gives it to Keya and hares off with Aloth first chance she gets.
5. Which traits does your Watcher dislike in others? Are they traits that clash with their personality, or things that they dislike about themselves?
Ruthlessness, greed, condescension, cowardice, apathy. All of them clash with her personality pretty strongly and sheās got no fuckinā time for it.
9. Did your Watcher hire any Adventurers to accompany them in their travels? If so, tell us a little about them.
Letās see⦠her 2.0 playthrough had Charity as a hired priest, I always hire a barbarian or monk in Dyrford to boost up the stats and get Hendyna the egg without breaking it or using up a grappling hookā¦. the only one that reallyĀ ācountsā, I guess, for her canon is Keya.Ā
Keya Durran is an orlan paladin(Kind Wayfarer), cusses almost as much as Tavi herself, badass healer(seriously, Taviās third Near Death Experience in TTtC is Keya staring down the Usher and the Usher blinks first. Itās that close, and Keyaās that good), tough as nails and surprisingly diplomatic. She has a good head for running things, which is why Tavi starts trusting her to be in charge on all her visits to EdĆ©r/running off for a break/what have you trips. The Steward and all of Caed Nuaās staff know and trust her bc Tavi trusts her, but then bc itās clear sheās good at this.
I love her so much, I decided she was in Defiance Bay and not Caed Nua when Eothas, ā¦yāknow, so sheās still alive.
10. Does your Watcher have any close ties outside of their companions, whether friends, family or lovers? Do they keep in regular contact with them?
Not close to keep in regular contact with them or anything, but she does still care about Silversteel Company, specifically Maren(dwarf who was the leader while Tavi was with them. She was the closest thing Tavi had to a friend for the first time in decades).
And Iām still tempted to find some way to give her back Khellin. Since I decided to make hunting the Leaden Key with Aloth her epilogue instead of an AU, maybe thereāll be an agent or a cell in The Living Lands or something.Ā ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
17. How does your Watcher feel about their Awakening? Did they make peace with it, or do they view it as a curse?
She has an uneasy truce with it after Thaos dies. Sheās not crazy about it, by any means, because Kayna is as different from her as Iselmyr is from Aloth, but that means Kayna is very quiet and doesnāt surface much. Especially after things get settled in regards to Iovara and Thoas and everything.
