Toe-Biter aka American Giant Water Bug (Lethocerus americanus), family Belostomatidae, ONT, Canada

They have a painful “bite”. They actually have a piercing mouth part. They are not usually aggressive, but will pierce you in defense.

This is a large aquatic insect, growing to a body length of up to 6 cm (2.4 inches).

I did have him kind of crawling all over me as I was simultaneously Manning or register and trying keep a hold of em as freind fetched a cup jail cell.

Unknown species of water boatman (family Corixidae), northern California, US

These bugs (actual bugs, i.e. Hemiptera) use their legs as oars to swim around. Most, but not all, species live in freshwater. This family contains pretty much every common eating habit - herbivores, carnivores, detrivores, and omnivores.

I found this one in the pool btw.
