Gyomei waterfall training
1/9/2023
Training 8/22/15 - 8/23/15
Yesterday was my designated day off and I had planned to go to Kung Fu at 2:00 p.m. as there was a class and I hadn’t gone on Monday, my other day off. My friends wanted to go to Zilker Park and I hadn’t been since the weather turned warm so I was torn between them, and eventually, against my better judgement, went to the Park with my friends. Now the Park has two pools, one free and one you pay to go into. The free one is much more style because it’s basically a river with minimal attendance. But it also has a WATERFALL. It’s man made, but it’s a waterfall. The current is decently strong as well, I got carried away by it more than once against my will. So as I had not gone to Kung Fu I decided to work on stances against the flow of water and let me tell you, even though I wasn’t able to really get into some properly deep stances, I got a work out. The bottom is uneven and covered in slippery algae and the waterfall gives a constant pull against you so you’re fighting it ever second. I fought my way right up to the waterfall and pushed my hands and head into it, struggling with my feet to keep up as I did so, and got knocked back several times! My friend swore I kept at it for an hour straight, but I think they were exaggerating. So not a bad experience, I might go do it again myself again with more intent to practice forms. Today I had to push some motivation into myself but I did my warm up exercises and stretches and got out to the volley ball court to practice my forms in the sand, which was firmer today because of the recent rain. I had trouble concentrating on my training today but managed to get through most of it. I have about two weeks to be assured of my proficiency before I pretest for my belt test.
