Waterloo Sunset. Is the Kinks song the best one about London? I think it very well could be. You know what? It was lovely to be out and about this evening. Listening to 'Waterloo Sunset' by the Kinks on Waterloo Bridge. One of my favourite songs and one of my favourite views. When this song came out in 1967 the 'dirty old river' was so polluted it was almost lifeless. There is a lot of life in the river today. There would have still been a lot of cleared bomb sites in 1967, from the Blitz happening 80 years ago from Sepember 1940 when the view downstream would have been very different with all the fires and bomb damage.
