This one day in Chefchaouen a friend of mine @christanoyes and I, were walking under the hot sun up dozens of flights of stairs surrounded by blue walls. As we walked up we noticed this woman walking up the stairs with many bags of groceries. She slowly and painfully made her way, step by step, up to her home. We asked her if we could help her and if she wanted some water. In a moment we were all sitting on the steps in the shade of the towering blue homes around us, sipping on some water. The best view of all is looking at a glacial lake at the base of a beautiful peek. Taking time to reflect back on some of the spectacular water views I’ve seen while visiting protected lands. Breaks my heart to think that anyone would want to jeopardize the existence of places like this. From national parks to public lands, to your everyday city park, it’s important to preserve and protect natural spaces. If not for the sanctity of nature than for the right to a healthy future. Protected land means protected habitats, protected forests, protected water sources, protected life. National and state parks are phenomenal however they are not enough.
