Mit dem Boot nach Phnom Penh 🇰🇭

Die Fahrt mit dem „Speedboat“ über den Mekong nach Kambodscha war sehr angenehm. Nichts Schaukelte, es gab keine Schlaglöcher über die man drüber heitzte und es gab sogar kleine Lunchpakete. Kostete allerdings auch 32$ pro Person.

Ein etwas beklemmendes Gefühl hatte ich allerdings schon, als ein Vietnamese alle Reisepässe in einer Plastiktüte eingesammelt hat um an der Grenze die Aus- und Einreise zu organisieren. Nach einer Stunde und zwei Stopps hatten wir alle Stempel und das Visum für Kambodscha und auch unseren Reisepass zurück.

Nach 6 Stunden kamen wir dann Mittags in Phnom Penh an. Leider hatte der Königspalast schon zu, weshalb wir uns den Wat Phnom angeschaut haben.

Super seltsam und umständlich wird das Bezahlen in Kambodscha, da man hier sowohl in Riel als auch in US-Dollar bezahlt. Das Rückgeld bekommt man immer in Riel. Auf dem Nightmarket gab es dann noch ein sehr gutes Abendessen und auf der Dachterasse des Hostels das erste Khmer Bier.

𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟳 𝗢𝗙 𝟯𝟭 Wishing I could go back to this beautiful temple right now. Most tourists don’t really enjoy temple tours but I do. It makes me appreciate the different beliefs of every culture and makes me respect the religion of every nation. In case you are wondering what are those structures in the grand staircase, those are the lions and naga (snake) balustrades guarding it. According to legend, the first pagoda on this site was erected in 1373 to house four statues of Buddha deposited here by the waters of the Mekong and discovered by a woman name, Penh.
