I honestly don't follow MAG that much but my fave WAG gymnasts are Aliya Mustafina, He Kexin, Larisa Iordache, and McKayla Maroney

2. Favorite apparatus to watch in both WAG and MAG?

WAG is floor and MAG is high bar

3. Opinion on the code of points?

It's hella complicated

4. All-time favorite leotard?

There are WAY too many to chose from, maybe Shawn's from the 2008 AA in Beijing

I want it to be Viktoria Komova, Kyla Ross, Aliya Mustafina but I don't know if I could predict anything. I'm not really up to date with everyone's training

I don't really mind it, I sorta did but I don't anymore. I hate it when people tweet about it. 

8. Who do you predict will be on the 2013 US World team?

Simone Biles, Kyla Ross, Katelyn Ohashi (if she's back in the gym in time), McKayla Maroney (maybe), Lexie Priessman

Again, only doing WAG. Nadia Comanici, Anna Pavlova, Shawn Johnson, Cheng Fei

1. How long have you been following gymnastics?

I've always appreciated gymnastics and watched it during the olympics, but I didn't get really into it until a couple months after the 2012 London olympics.

2. Have you ever been a gymnast?

I have never been a gymnast. I am a cheerleader and do some tumbling and am working on more.

3. Have you ever been to an gymnastics meet? If so, which one(s)?

No I have not, but I am going to the 2013 Secret Classic this weekend!! I am SO excited!!

4. What is your favorite routine on each apparatus?

I'm just going to do WAG cuz I don't follow MAG as much

5. What is your favorite thing about gymnastics?

I just love watching all of the amazing things they can do! Also just the gymnasts themselves, most of them just have great personalities! 

6. If you could get rid of one rule in gymnastics, what would it be?

THE TWO PER COUNTRY RULE!!! You don't know how much that angers me I could go on about it for hours!

7.  What is your favorite brand of leotards?

I'm not really a huge fan of any specific brand

8. Who do you think will win each event at US Nationals?

Vault: McKayla Maroney

AA: Kyla Ross, Simone Biles, or Brenna Dowell

It's a tie between UCLA and UF

I don't really watch NCAA gymnastics but I am hoping to get more into it soon!

NÄCHSTE FRAGENGRUPPE:

1. Foreign language of choice? Why?

Spanish. I live in California, which makes it an extremely useful language to know, but I also took 4 years of Spanish in high school and really enjoyed learning it (excluding my freshman year). I've also always wanted to learn Latin. I have an old (1952) Latin text book that belonged to my Grandma. As a little kid, I tried to teach myself latin with it. It didn't work.

2. What country would you most like to visit that you haven’t been to yet? Why?

I've never been out of the US. I would love to go to British Isles and New Zealand, but where I really want to travel is to the Puget sound area of Washington to see the Orca pods that live up there.

3. Top 5 leotard designs of a) all time. b) modern era (post-2000)

That's gonna make this too long, I'll make a separate post for it.

4. Whom do you want to win the Worlds AA this year? Whom do you think will win?

Pretty unrealistic, but I would love for Mckayla Maroney to win AA. On a more realistic note, it would be really exciting for someone like Brenna Dowell, who was completely ignored during Olympic trials, to win. I would also be really excited for Bulimar or Iordache. With what little we know right now I think Biles has a really good chance of winning and so does Mustafina (as long as she stays healthy).

5. Does it bother you that I just used whom properly, but usually can’t be arsed to punctuate or capitalize worth peanuts?

Not really. While improper grammar, punctuation etc. bothers me in formal writing, on the internet I've trained myself to mostly ignore it. Spelling is what really gets to me.

6. Does my mother’s technological ineptitude know any bounds? (fyi “why can’t I get facebook on my camera" is an actual unironic quote of hers)

Probably not. My dad has never used a computer in his life and just used the debit card on his own for the first time yesterday, but he knows how to properly use "Google" as a verb. At the dentist, he actually had to have the receptionist fill out his registration stuff because they had no physical paper work, it was all computer forms.

7. If you could be a one-event elite gymnast, what event would that be? What would your signature skill or combination be?

Bars! I have always wanted to fly and while I know that bars are really hard, it looks like so much fun. Um, I'm really bad at identifying/naming skills, but I would want my routine to be full of releases, not pirouettes.

8. Have you ever done gymnastics before, recreationally or competitively? Share a story?

Unless doing handstands in the pool or pretending the curb was a balance beam, no. My cousin could never even manage to teach me to do a cartwheel and I really wanted to learn how.

9. Perfect 10 or D/E?

D/E all the way. Each skill being assigned a specific value and adding up to a Difficulty score just makes sense to me. I really like watching NCAA, but I almost ignore the scoring because it's harder for me to understand than D/E even though I understand how it works.

10. Bautiful expression and dance, sloppy form or perfect form, dances like an elephant on roller skates?

Perfect form and poor dance. As much as I love the gorgeous dancers (Sydeny Johnson Scharpf, Sarah Finnegan), I fell in love with gymnastics for the big skills that I could never even imagine doing. So as painful as Aly Raisman's floor can be to watch, I still love it for the tumbling, especially the first pass.

11. Which country would you most want to blow the WAG Big 4 wide open with a surprise team gold in Rio? (Can be a completely unrealistic pipe dream like Ukraine or a fairly decent possibility like Canada)

Since the Olympics are going to be in Rio, I would love for the Brazilian team to get gold. I really hope that Alexandrov can work miracles for the Brazilian girls.
