Finally started watching Wave. Not even ten minutes in and the subtext is just text, honestly.

Like, we have gone for the typical sports anime first meeting of Character A sees Character B being flawless at a sport and decides said sport is basically their destiny now... except everything about it is framed like Masaki has a crush on Sho. (This is not unusual, but I swear they usually at least pretend to be subtle.)

Also, I see we have an anime about a watersport and a main character who cannot swim. I’m sure this will not cause any drama...

But then are even more upset that they are actually alive in the last minute and there's no explanation.
