Ever Accidentally Do Something Stupid That Makes You Look Like An Awful Person?

Okay, so the women at my church have this group chat on Facebook Messenger, right? One chick sent a message that must have gotten split up, because all I see is “Good afternoon,”

So, I figure the message is in pieces. Either that, or she’s just wishing everyone a good afternoon.

In any case, I sent a 👋🏻 in greeting and left it alone because I had things to do and would check it later.

Much later in the evening, the rest of the message sends. It’s just business-as-usual stuff, no biggie.

And more and more people are messaging like crazy. Making plans, et cetera.

My waving hand is nowhere to be found. Maybe I forgot to send? Whatever. I don’t normally respond to stuff anyway.

Another lady writes that she and her family are leaving and will go to another church.

Right after, I see it.

My throat fell straight down into my stomach. No way! I didn’t! I couldn’t have!

It was definitely the waving hand I definitely sent.

Everyone else is writing how much they’ll miss this departing family, so I suspect maybe they don’t notice.

But I’m freaking panicking. They’re going to think I’m a horrible person! They’re going to think I’m being petty, hateful, and just plain rude!

They’re going to think it was a “Bye, Felicia” wave and not the “Hi, everyone” wave that it was!

This is bad.

I wrote something about Messenger messing up and how much I was going to miss them, so hopefully it’s been smoothed over, but I still feel bad about it.

I’m not alone, right? What’s the dumbest thing you’ve done that you worry made you look like a bad person?
