Last Thursday we had the pleasure to dj at disco|very|party in Bern, Switzerland. It was a nice little venue packed with motivated people. The whole party was super fun and was a big success. It was the very first party in a series of 3, which tries to mix up the student parties in Bern a little. 

So here's why I'm writing this post. Friends of us and the creators of the party made a little aftermovie and I, for my part, think it's awesome. Check it out!

Russ Chimes - Turn Me Out (Video)

This is a new song from Russ Chimes. It's a good song. Back 2 U was a better song. Don't get me wrong, I really like this one but it's a bit too housy. The video on the other hand is one of the best I've seen this year. I can't really tell if it's the woman, the colours, the robotic movement or just everything in its combination but with this video a can easily appreciate this track as much as Back 2 U.

Touch Sensitive - Pizza Guy

One thing that bugs me the most in music industry these days is when members of a band decide to start their solo career and therefore abandon their band. I do not care if they can better explore their musical inspiration that way or whatever reason there might be for nor focusing on the band. A perfect example of this trend is Late of the Pier. They had one of the best albums in 2008 but after a two song EP in 2010 they had to go on hiatus because of frontman Sam Eastgate. This sounds harsh I know, but luckily there are a few exceptions, namely the solo-careerers that do not stop making music with their band. Touch Sensitive is the keyboardist Michael Di Francesco from Van She and a good example for that.  He put out a hell of a song with Pizza Guy. I might just say im looking forward for more, needless to say only if Van She will not disband.

Disclosure - You & Me ft. Eliza Doolittle

Another day with another absolutely stunning release from UK-based electronic duo Disclosure. The track again shines with wonderful vocals and very fresh vibes which give you the first taste of summer and festivals. Although it is very similar to earlier releases from them I think it is one of their stronger ones - but see for yourself.

Jonas Isaksson - Leav EP

Jonas Isaksson is signed to Stockholm based 12-3 Recordings. I've never heard of him but his new EP is rather tasty. The EP doesn't lack variety. While Bask and Scent are stomping club tracks, Attack is a smooth ambient techno beat. Listen to the whole thing below.

Sarah’s Top 10 Handclapping Songs

For quite some time I have had a bizarre thing for handclapping in music, so it was a natural decision to put together a spectacular list and share my discoveries. Just to be clear:

“A clap is the percussive sound made by striking together two flat surfaces, as in the body parts of humans or animals.”

There you go, don’t forget to free your hands before you start listening…

  10. Local Natives - Breakers I wasn’t certain these sounds were made by human hands but after the concert last month, I can assure you they are.

  9. Grum - Power This track is on my list, mainly to illustrate how EVERY genre should consider including handclaps. Yes, I know you can hardly hear them.

8. Everything Everything - Qwerty Fingers Even if it’s only for the first part, this is just fabulous!

  7. Does it Offend You Yeah? - Being Bad Feels Pretty Good I get the impression the song wouldn’t be quite as fun without these subtle background claps.

  6. Bibio - Ambivalence Avenue Handclaps don’t necessarily need to be spectacular, this will absolutely do for me.

5. Rod Thomas - Same Old Lines If I were to choose the king of handclaps, Rod Thomas aka Bright Light Bright Light would be my man. Just listen to that EP! (And yes, that video is very weird)

4. HUNDREDS - Happy Virus I guess I get way too excited for that 0.50min part…

3. Fanfarlo - Luna There are very few things in life that make me as thoroughly happy as these perfectly timed handclaps!

2. Broken Bells - The Ghost Inside This song was the trigger for my profound interest in handclapping. Apparently I was always clapping along while listening, so one day a friend of mine asked me about “that song you’re always happily clapping along”. Thus I discovered my passion!

1. Post War Years - The Black Morning Be patient and you’ll be rewarded. I can’t help clapping like a fool.

Yuksek remixes KOSTROK

After a couple of not-that-cool releases he finally finds to his old power and gives us a tasty remix of KOSTROK's Right Now. It is a little bit more discoy than most of the other Yuksek stuff and that's the strenghts of this song in my opinion. It feels good to be back, serving you good music for your hard working days.

After a lot of trouble with our registrar we are back online. They decided to completely rework their whole system right around the date our domain had to be auto-renewed. Of course this screwed up everything and our Domain was not auto-renewed. So first I had to renew it manually, then in took about a week till it was up and running but this wasn't the end of the story. With their rework it was very, believe me, very hard to understand the basic functionlities I had to use. So it took me a while to figure out their new system. When I finally thought I had the right settings it just didn't. Because of a lot of stress at university I forgot it for about a week and suddenly today in a physics-lecture the whole thing startet working again. I think it was the positive energy of this physicsplace that changed everything. I honostly have no idea why its working now, but at least it does! We are happy to be back to give you frequent news about good music again.
