Waye: Bronze Award - Part C - Arts Inspiration
My art inspiration is Pablo Picasso
Why they inspire me?
Pablo Picasso inspires me because he used every day events to create a piece of art work, which shows he wants to create a context of daily life to the audience. This shows when he created “The Weeping Woman”,when he used the event of the Spanish Civil war to symbolise that many he wants peace for everyone. These pieces of art work shoe he really does care for the world and wants to make a difference to the world. This inspires me to interact with people in a good way even if I dislike them and that artwork is not always about making it look good, but about what you believe and strive in.
the weeping woman
What make them or do and how?
He creates semi-abstract pieces of work by using shapes, but you are also able to tell what the image is. The artwork will also have some sort of story and meaning behind the painting. As shown above the painting of the weeping woman is that she is crying. The story behind this piece is that this woman has just lost her child and that it was an idea of his when he heard about the Spanish Civil War. He does these types of artwork because he wants to create peace for everyone in general. Pablo Picasso also creates:painting sculptures etching poems...
Sculpture of a crane
What do other people think about his work?
ANDRES SERRANO Photographer:
“Picasso was important to me, especially as a teenager in art school. He was the first art superstar of the 20th century. My early work was narrative, so I looked hard at his blue and rose period paintings. But Picasso's portraits are also full of contradictions. Distortion is their essence. James Joyce wrote about sitting for a painter who said he wanted to capture Joyce's soul. "Forget the soul," Joyce said. "Just get the tie right."
Despite him being a good artist his artwork can also be quite peculiar which give the audience to have their own thoughts and ideas about what they want it represent for themselves. This is what makes his paintings so great, because it gets the person thinking about the meaning behind the picture.
What I like about their work?
I like how he really wants to show peace in the world by using art.The work he produced makes me think to myself that not every piece of artwork must me realistic and pretty. It can be whatever we want it to be.He uses different colours to make it stand out for the looks and the story behind it.In the weeping woman the painting is half coloured and half black and white which I think makes a different prospective to everyone. The contrasting colours creates a sense of speciality.
What I have found out about their career and technique?
Pablo Picasso studied art in Paris. He is born on the 25th of October 1881 in Spain, Malaga. In 1895 he entered the school of fine arts in Barcelona. Picasso is the most famous artist for moving antiwar statements. His artwork has inspired many people on art for antiwar and he has inspired me to become a better artist.

Us explaining how to create the reaction of audio sensitivity
What art skill will you like to share?
We are going to share a piece of coding linked to audio sensitivity to a couple of people. We are also make our presentation interactive, so the audience understands how the coding works.
How am I going to do it?
The way we will share this skill is by showing a demonstration on a short task on the software ‘Processing’.We are going to share the task evenly.
Who will I work with?
I’m going to work with Talal to prepare and deliver the presentation.
What practice or preparation are you going to do?
We are going to research on how to code up audio sensitivity
Practising on how to present to the audience
We must get hold of some laptops and the software(processing)
Prepare before hand a short demonstration on audio sensitivity
Showing our example of audio sensitivity
How are you going to make it fun and interesting?
We will involve the audience throughout the presentation. They will be able to take part in the coding.Overall we will make it interactive while making the audience understand how to code up the audio sensitivity.
What will success look like?
Success will look like the audience has enjoyed the presentation. This also includes them being able to get the coding done correctly and understand. The audience will also be able to give good feedback and shown the have learnt something through or presentation.

My review:
What went well?
What went well during our performance was that we realised the mistake Arvo did quite quickly and that we explained everything clearly and quickly making it concise but well informed about the instructions
Did it go to plan?
Yes it did go to plan, but I tumbled on my words a bit.Still able to understand though. We had the main point out and that’s what matters.
What will I do differently next time?
I will practice a bit more on my lines because I stumbled a little bit on a few of my lines, so a bit more practice.Overall it was fun to teach something new someone else.
What did others think about it?
Arvo had said “specially liked how they helped through the error and individual points”
Chloe said “Spoke clearly and understood what we are saying with the demonstration being interactive and quite knowledgeable.
Gina- “Patient with Arvo”
Overall I think that it was mostly well presented and that the points were made out clearly to the audience.
Waye: Bronze Part B - Be The Audience
Us outside of the Saatchi Gallery
What did you experience as an audience member?
As an audience member I had experienced a virtual reality project from the Saatchi Gallery. This was a beautifully presented by the ways the virtual reality sensor recorded our breath and the way we saw other people in the virtual world. The project was called ‘We live in an ocean of air’.It gave us a sense of our carbon dioxide that growing every minute as we exhale. This is one of the world’s leading immersive art collections. It illuminates the hidden natural sources that surround us.
What did you like best and why?
I liked the concept the most fascinating because the project made me think about how much we actually need trees and how they need us, because the virtual world shows us the air we breath out to gradually watch a tree grow from our breath.I also liked how we got to control the carbon dioxide particles that the sensor could detect our exhaling breath.I liked how we control the air because it makes us think that we can’t even control the thing we let out and how little power we actually have throughout the universe.
What art forms were involved?
This involved collections / exhibitions and visual art.
What do you think could have been done better?
I honestly think that the whole performance was absolutely breathtaking and how they make the audience think about what this proves to us humans. But the thing that they can improve on is that they should show more information on how they created the idea of this virtual world. This is because many other virtual realities are all games or looking into buildings so it would be wonderful to find out how the people had created this unique piece of artwork.
Would you recommend this to others?Explain why?
I would recommend this to others because this virtual reality will really take you to a different dimension. It will create such a different atmosphere compared to other virtual realities. This exhibition will really make you feel connected to the nature and wild life. Also it just makes you feel as if you not actually on the floor, despite bumping into people from time to time.So if you want to enjoy the fun of controlling your own breath and watching the tree grow then this is definitely for you.
This is a recording of a discussion we had about the experience:
