The ability to trust seems rather depleted given his current predicament, making a conversation with a giant man a little more off-putting than the snack pack he had been enjoying would belie.

Red Hood handles a firearm as though he is resentful of its ability to take life so quickly. The M1911′s have clearly been modified with after - market parts, any identifying features crudely scratched off or blacked out.

              Cassandra had never really been sick. Or at least not sick enough to get her bed ridden.  Maybe, if she hadn’t been shutting down a criminal activity under the pouring with broken heat regulator in her suit on an empty stomach and zero, she would not be temporarily bound in her bed.

            But Cassandra was only human after all.

            All day, she was clinging to Bruce’s arm the moment he checked up on her, calling her ‘Dad’ for so many times in two hours more than she did ever since she was adopted by her. She didn’t really want anything from him at that moment other than his presence.

               She also didn’t think she had heard him told her ‘I love you’ before She had not heard it him said it enough before but she didn’t need to because she knew. Cassandra was not sure if she was just sickly delusional or he really said it but it didn’t matter because she she knew the truth. That fact keeps her her warm.

               Despite the lack of color on her face except for the dark bag in her eyes, she smiled.      “ I love you too, Dad. “

war is nothing to hope for.

Steve looked at him --- long and hard and with all the colors of BATTLEFIELD playing across his face. Had Steve ever hoped for war? It was hard to remember. He can still picture sitting in tent after tent, desperate to be a part of it. He can remember stepping inside a tank, half-hope and half-despair, and stepping out as something else. He can remember first getting there, among soldiers and nurses and worse, and tasting IRON in the air. I just don’t like bullies, he’d said, and he’d been young and stupid and eager to fight ‘em all the same. 

“You’ve never been in A WAR, have you?” If the other man had, he’d know no one that fought ‘em hoped for one ever again. Didn’t matter the kind of war, didn’t matter that Steve wasn’t sure what to do with peace. He wasn’t part of some WAR MONGERING MACHINE, no matter what people liked to say about Captain America. “I’d appreciate if you don’t lecture me on it then.”

Looking back at the mess they’ve made, he supposed he shouldn’t be surprised that the super superheroes showed up, no offense to Red though he wasn’t going to say that out loud. Seeing his predecessor in person though, that was going to make him gawk even if he wasn’t surprised. 

The funny thing though, was that Superman seemed to be just as thrown back seeing him, which, ok, he supposed that was fair, he was his unconsented clone, so they ended just standing for a whole two minutes, slack jawed and starring at each other.
