This was part of an art trade with Maskman08 back in 2012. I love the way they captured Hidan's zesty personality in this! Two Jashinists together? Hidan? An unruly partnership indeed! If only Udo knew what she was getting into!

Lee was raised in a Taoist household. Taoism is common in the Land of Fragrance and his mother, Raga Lee, is very devout. However, Lee’s always struggled with Taoism and identifies as being agnostic. He tried to follow his mother’s beloved belief system but found it difficult once he reached his early teens-- Especially so when he was severely injured after his fight with Ga.ara. A slight rift was created between him and his mother during those few months that Lee believed he’d never be able to a shinobi again, and it was all over Taoism.

Taoists go with the flow and accept things as they are/as they happen. This was really hard for Lee because it was his frickin’ dream to be a shinobi. He was just supposed to give up on that and just “accept” his injury as fate?? Absolutely not. His mother called him power-hungry, argued that he wasn’t going through life as he should and following Laozi’s teachings. His life was imbalanced because he wasn’t living “the way,” and that was why he suffered from such an injury. Yeah, his mom is very devout.

But she’s a stubborn woman and she knew her son had inherited her stubbornness so she knew he wouldn’t give up being a shinobi, even after hearing her words of deterrence. Eventually, she let him be and stopped bring Taoism up. They never really had a conversation about how she hurt his feelings or about how he felt she was unsupportive of his dreams in that instance of his serious injury. However, they are currently in a good place and he doesn’t wish to bring it up. Plus, he really loves his Mama and she’s always been kind of blunt and cold like that, so he’s used to it?

There’s a hit of REGRET that rests upon her words. . .along with a sigh of SHAME. How many moons has it been since she’s disassociated from her savior? Since he betrayed his brotherhood and tried to make a life for himself in a LIE? How many moons has it been since she last saw his face? Since she spoke his name so freely and in various tones according to how he received her. She wants to say she forgot his face, but every detail of his design has been MEMORIZED. And every night, she prays to someone who turns a deaf ear to her requests if only to entertain the notion that someone is listening to her sorrows and will let them subside. Years pass and she still yearns for a ghost she knows is GONE.

Eyes are fixed upon her work. She should have a lot of concentration when holding needles and other pointed objects, but even so, her mind wanders to GOLDEN TIMES when she actually cared about a life and not a LEECH. Slowly, she injects serum into small beakers, but continues to withdraw from her work. She has no idea why she opens up to HIM so easily, but words wander from lips so careless and coolly, as if trying to seek VALIDATION from this vandal.

She’s consumed by curiosity. He doesn’t seem like the kind that COMMITS or allows himself to fall for the foolishness of affection. But does he at least have an idea of what it’s like to let something so hurtful LINGER? Even if not, she’ll at least try to seek out how he stays so strong. It’s a trait she admires. . . or maybe she’s always been interested in individuals who can LET GO of their losses. Maybe she’s searching for someone who has what she lacks or maybe she just likes those who are equally as MISERABLE. / @wayofjashin

It was hard to explain how the current situation had come to fruition. Really, it was a very unfortunate series of happenings, and it was quite possibly not even Ryou Bakura’s fault. Because he is such a lucky individual, Ryou had ended up in a knife fight that he really didn’t want to be a part of. To get away, he had the brilliant idea to jump straight into the shadow realm. It was not a brilliant idea.

The most unexpected part of jumping into the shadowy portal was that he did not end up in the intended shadowy plane of existence. Instead, Ryou found himself falling knife first through the sky. His shock left no time to react, and the next thing he knew, he was landing on what he could only assume was a person. The knife he held slid right into them. Shit.
