Aiko surprised herself when the words flew from her lips before she could think—
“Yes. I’ll walk with you.”
Itachi’s expression softened, if even just a tick to her quick agreement to accompany him. He thought better of teasing her about it, content with the slight hue shift of her cheeks.
Itachi’s eyes drifted along her body briefly before giving her a curt nod and beginning their walk around Konaha.
It wasn’t long before Aiko broke the silence with her head turned toward the Uchiha with a grin on her face. “Why did you invite me on a walk, Tachi?”
Itachi’s bangs shifted as he looked down at the woman, his dark eyes taking in her playful expression. Did she know something ?
“Why do you agree so quickly?”
Aiko’s brow twitched, her lips parting slightly as her expression turned defensive. “Quickly?” She huffed. “Hardly.” Finishing off the words with an eyeroll. She was about as hidden as glass.
“Hm. I invited you because I enjoy your company, Aiko-chan.” Annoying as he was honest, Aiko thought. Her eyes returned to him, his blank expression peering back.
“Don’t look so miserable, then.” Aiko stepped closer and uncrossed her arms. Without the slightest hesitation she reached up and pressed her fingers against his cheeks. She pushed until his lips formed a smile, almost mirroring her toothy grin.
“Better.” She chuckled, the slight hue returning to her cheeks like a reward for Itachi.
