suo being like: oh god i hope these children won't have to join the red chanpuru at fifteen, that would be awful. anyway, i have been a part of it since i was ten but that's normal and acceptable

what if suo looked so miserable (re: that cursed sad panel of suo suffering from nirei’s pov) bc not only is his home under this serious imminent threat, but bc he is starving, in the literal and metaphorical senses.
we still don’t see him eat; instead we see that there’s a huge problem with food scarcity. he could absolutely be doing better physically, but he also still keeps everything overtly negative to himself as much as possible so as not to burden others.
he probably doesn’t even know how to eat his own share anymore. he’s giving so much of his energy and himself to the people and places he cares about that there’s not enough left of himself to keep him going like this.
that shared meal with furin (and maybe his rc brothers + dojo kids too) will hurt so good bc suo is going to have to physically learn how to have his own share. physically struggling to use his own chopsticks, raise his own food to his mouth and eat. to accept care and love (and food) even when you think others need or deserve it more than you.
anyway i’m going crazy, perhaps more ramblings soon to come... if i flesh them all out completely, i will never shut up LOL. thank you for reading!!! <3

Don't take this too seriously
Predictions/impression of the newest chapter
The new chapter honestly made me realize that Suo is much more mature than I initially thought. We all know him as the anchor of the group, but I never fully understood the weight behind that role until now. Wherever he is, he’s always the calm, the balance.
This might sound weird, but he honestly reminds me of a young single parent, or maybe an older sibling forced into a parental role. Someone who puts other people first so constantly that they barely know how to want things for themselves anymore.
Like… he wants to stay. He wants to be with his friends. He clearly cares about them deeply. But at the same time, he carries so much responsibility that he can’t even imagine putting his own “childish” desires before the people who rely on him.
And from this chapter alone, we can really see just how tight-knit this community is, even more so than Furin and Makochi themselves. It’s a community built on interdependence, where everyone relies on each other to survive and keep the harmony intact. And I feel like Suo truly does love his home and its people, but at the same time, he also feels the weight of the entire town on his shoulders.
He understands responsibility to a degree that feels far too heavy for someone his age. I feel like even his outfit reflects that in a way, it almost seems slightly too big for him, like he’s carrying a role he had to grow into far too early.
I’m not sure where the story is going yet;;;, but there definitely has to be a central source of conflict. This is kind of an obvious take, but I think that conflict might come from within Red Chupuru itself. Maybe the higher-ups are corrupt. Maybe the townspeople, and even the town itself, are Suo’s weakness, keeping him tied to Red Chupuru through a sense of obligation and obedience.
To put it simply, it’s like an oldest sibling who’s finally old enough to move out, yet can’t because their younger siblings are still under their "parents" custody. And beyond responsibility, there’s also that lingering attachment to “home.”
I saw a post on Twitter saying that Suo and Isabella from The Promised Neverland have the same kind of vibe and I totally agree ><;;
I have absolutely NO proof for any of this though, this was just the impression I got from the chapter haha. Maybe it resonates with me more because I’m the oldest sibling too :D
just remembered suo's best subject is chemistry. he knows 5 languages but his best subject isn't english or japanese, but chemistry
*grabs you by the shoulder* WHAT IS WRONG WITH SUO??!?
i think we can count adultification/parentification as basically confirmed to be one of the things happening with him - since he's a fifteen year old with an important role in a gang where he not only has to fight but also: babysit adults, worry about the food and education of the children, and maybe other roles. while kids join at fifteen, suo seems to be the exception, being maybe groomed for this job
so that explains a lot. his mature posture, his knowledge and abilities, he's inability to show any weakness. it makes sense if he has such an important role, he can't show vulnerability. his job is to worry so other people don't have to. at fifteen
but it feels like there's more and its been driving me crazy but i think this chapter gave me the answer
kids are being abandoned, and as i noticed here, we have a history of kids being abandoned by their parents in this manga, so i think its likely suo was abandoned by his parents and i think the reason why is in his right eye. i think the eye will be really important for his backstory
maybe suo's parents wanted him to be "perfect", maybe they abandoned him for not achieving that. maybe suo had heterochromia. maybe he took his eye out, maybe an accident happened and now in their eyes he can never be "perfect" again
but even after that suo is still striving for that perfection so he cannot let himself be anything but. ive wondered before if some of suos oddities come from that. can't play that game because i never played before and dont know if i will be perfect. cant go in the water cause i dont know how to swim so i cant be perfect, etc
suo in makochi: i hope i'm getting a good grade in being a friend, which is both normal to want and possible to achieve :)
told myself i was never looking at this again, but i think some of you forgot how he looked during the fight with nirei. i dont think this was just because he had to leave. he's dying on the inside
this is not someone in a happy place we need to say goodbye to
i'm killing myself in front of nii sensei to forever alter the trajectory of their life!!!
i took the looks to the side bacchus and rakta give as their silent disapproval of suo leaving furin. and then bacchus distracts everyone so suo doesn't have to say anything about this thing he's not happy about
