Helloo! Spot here :D
I've been having this long time idea in my head about a WB(Ace focused of course) X Marine!Reader, but she has a strict work/life balance, like Admiral Tarung (a character from Boboiboy Galaxy, I'm not sure if you know that or not but it was my favorite show when I was younger). But in short, she's very strict and commanding and very scary when on the clock, but when she's off clock she's very sweet and gentle.
And with that I've been imagining scenarios where she's on WB's ship, either after chasing them or somehow stumbling upon it and in the middle of interacting with them her break ends (or starts, whichever you want) and her personality flips into her other one.
Thank you for reading my little ramble and have fun writing! I can’t wait to read it! •w• Have an amazing day/night!

The salty spray of the Grand Line was a familiar kiss against your face, a constant companion to the thunderous roar of cannons and the screams of fleeing pirates. You, Vice Admiral Y/n, were a force of nature in the truest sense of the phrase, a living legend etched into the annals of the Marines. When your ship, the Aegis, appeared on the horizon, dread rippled through even the most hardened pirate crews. They knew what was coming: a relentless pursuit, an unyielding onslaught, and a justice as swift and merciless as a crashing wave.
Your reputation preceded you like a storm front. Whispers of your unyielding determination echoed from the furthest reaches of the four blues to the treacherous depths of the New World. They spoke of the time you single-handedly boarded Blackbeard's flagship, cutting a swathe through his crew with a grin, leaving him sputtering in your wake. Or the infamous incident where you cornered the 'Crimson Corsair' on an uninhabited island, and after a four-day standoff, dragged him back in chains, his notorious crew decimated and scattered to the winds. No pirate, no matter how formidable, had ever truly escaped your grasp without bearing the scars of your unwavering resolve, their ships riddled with holes, their numbers drastically reduced. Your sense of justice wasn't just a code; it was a living, breathing entity that pulsed through your veins, driving you forward with an intensity that bordered on the terrifying. It was this very tenacity, this absolute refusal to back down, coupled with a strength that could shatter mountains and a mind as sharp as any cutlass, that had recently earned you the highly coveted promotion to Admiral.
But then there was the other side of Y/n, the one few were privileged enough to witness. The moment your formidable, oversized blade was sheathed, a transformation occurred. The unyielding vice admiral, the embodiment of relentless justice, melted away, replaced by the gentlest soul you could ever hope to meet. Imagine, if you will, the quiet joy of finding you tending to the ship's small, carefully cultivated herb garden, humming a forgotten sea shanty, your fingers surprisingly delicate as you pruned a basil plant. Or perhaps, after a particularly brutal skirmish, watching you carefully bandage the paw of a stray dog that had wandered onto the ship, your voice soft and comforting, a stark contrast to the commands that had just shaken the very decks. You'd share your last piece of chocolate with a nervous cabin boy, offer a genuine, warm smile to a grizzled marine who'd just returned from a perilous patrol, and even take the time to listen, truly listen, to the concerns of the lowest-ranking sailor. It was a duality that baffled those who only knew your legend, a stark, almost disorienting contrast between the steel-edged warrior and the compassionate individual. Yet, it was this very dichotomy that made you, Y/n, not just a formidable Admiral, but an undeniably compelling one.
You, Admiral Y/n, were a paradox wrapped in a Marine uniform. To the world, you were the unyielding force of justice, the one who struck fear into the hearts of pirates. Yet, away from the battle-scarred decks and the roar of cannon fire, you were a different person entirely. It was in those stolen moments of peace, often during a well-deserved shore leave or a quiet afternoon aboard the Aegis when patrols were light, that the other Y/n emerged.
Imagine the bustling market of a coastal town, sunlight glinting off the colorful stalls. There you were, not barking orders, but carefully examining a small, handmade toy for a child, your brow furrowed in concentration as if it were a complex strategic map. A moment later, that same child, their eyes wide with wonder, would be clutching a handful of exotic candies you'd just purchased, your lips curving into a soft, genuine smile that rarely graced your face in uniform. Or picture this: during a brief stop at a Marine base, you’d find yourself in the mess hall, not at the head table, but sharing stories and laughter with the lowest-ranking recruits, your voice a soothing balm compared to its usual commanding tone. You'd even been known to orchestrate elaborate treasure hunts for the younger cadets, their squeals of delight echoing through the halls as you subtly guided them towards the hidden "treasure"—a basket of freshly baked cookies from the ship's cook. This was the Y/n who’d spend hours patiently teaching a new recruit how to tie a complex knot, or quietly offer a warm blanket to a shivering watchman on a cold night. This side of you, gentle and nurturing, was a stark contrast to the iron will you displayed in the face of piracy, a secret kept safe by those few who truly knew you.
However, even the most unyielding of forces has its immovable object. While your record against countless pirate crews was one of consistent, if brutal, success, there was one exception, one perpetual stalemate: the Whitebeard Pirates. They were the bane of your professional existence, the singular blot on your otherwise pristine record of victory. It wasn't that you ever lost to them, not outright. But you never truly won either.
The first time your ship clashed with the Moby Dick was a chaotic symphony of power. You remember the sheer, raw might of Edward Newgate, the legendary Whitebeard himself, sending shockwaves through the very air with his Gura Gura no Mi. Your crew, though elite, found themselves constantly pushing against an overwhelming tide. You’d led the charge onto their deck, your blade a silver blur, clashing against the massive weapons of their commanders. There was the time you went toe-to-toe with Jozu, the 'Diamond' himself, your combined strength leaving craters in the ship's deck, neither of you gaining a decisive advantage. Another memorable encounter involved you facing off against Marco the 'Phoenix', his regenerative flames forcing you to unleash a flurry of precise, calculated strikes, a dance of destruction that always ended with the Whitebeard Pirates somehow managing to disengage, their ship battered but never sunk, their crew bruised but never broken. It was a frustrating, almost respectful, deadlock that played out repeatedly across the Grand Line.
And then there was him: Portgas D. Ace, the 'Fire Fist'. He was the one who always seemed to slip through your fingers, a ghost of a grin perpetually playing on his lips. You'd cornered him countless times, your blades clashing in a flurry of sparks and your Haki pushing against his fiery form. Each encounter was a spectacular display of skill and power, an almost perfectly matched duel. You remembered one particular chase through a dense jungle, your footsteps echoing his as you both weaved through the trees, your exchanges punctuated by the crackle of his flames and the whistle of your blade.
"Still chasing my tail, Admiral?" he'd quipped once, narrowly dodging a thrust that would have skewered him, his voice laced with an infuriating charm.
You, ever the picture of unwavering discipline, had merely narrowed your eyes, your response sharp and to the point. "Justice doesn't rest, pirate. And neither do I."
Yet, even as you spoke, there was a subtle flicker in your gaze, a fleeting acknowledgment of the playful challenge in his eyes. He’d grin, a flash of white teeth against his tanned skin, and just when you thought you had him, he'd burst into flames, disappearing with a taunting wave, leaving you alone amidst the smoldering trees, a frustrated sigh escaping your lips. He was the one pirate who could consistently ignite a spark of something… else within you, a flicker of exasperated amusement that you steadfastly refused to acknowledge. He was a constant reminder that even for the best of the best, some battles were destined to be ongoing.
The mid-day sun beat down on Port Blossom, a bustling hub of trade and travelers. The air was thick with the scent of freshly baked bread, exotic spices, and the distant tang of the sea. You, Y/n, were in your element, utterly unrecognizable to anyone who only knew Admiral Y/n. Your immaculate Marine uniform was nowhere in sight, replaced by a simple, flowing sundress that billowed gently in the sea breeze. Your hair, usually pulled back in a severe, no-nonsense bun, was down, framing your face softly. The stern lines that often etched your brow in command were smoothed away, replaced by an easy smile that touched your eyes as you browsed a stall overflowing with vibrant silks.
You hummed a tuneless melody, reaching for a particularly bright blue scarf. A young boy, no older than seven, stumbled past, dropping a bag of berries he'd just bought. Without a moment's hesitation, you knelt, your movements fluid and graceful, helping him gather the scattered fruit. "Careful there, little one," you murmured, your voice a gentle lilt, a stark contrast to the booming commands that could silence a battlefield. The boy, initially startled, offered a shy smile as you handed him his recovered treasures. You even ruffled his hair, a small, affectionate gesture that would be unthinkable from the Vice Admiral. You continued your leisurely stroll, greeting vendors with genuine warmth, offering directions to lost tourists with a patient smile, and even pausing to admire a street performer's juggling act, tossing a few coins into his hat. This was Y/n on break – the kind, approachable woman who radiated an almost palpable warmth, extending courtesies even to the gruffest-looking individuals, some of whom you knew, deep down, were likely small-time pirates just trying to make a living. The Admiral's jacket, the symbol of your authority and the barrier between your two selves, was definitively off.
It was precisely this tranquil scene that greeted the Moby Dick's landing party. Whitebeard's massive figure, surprisingly quiet off-duty, ambled through the market alongside Marco, Jozu, and, of course, the ever-curious Ace. They were in need of supplies, a momentary respite from the endless journey. Whitebeard chuckled at something Marco said, his voice a low rumble, as they navigated the crowded thoroughfare. Ace, ever restless, had already darted ahead, weaving through the throngs of people.
He was laughing, a bright, unburdened sound, as he dodged a fishmonger's flailing net. That's when he saw you. Not the Admiral who perpetually chased him across the seas, but you. You were helping an old woman untangle her fishing net, your brow furrowed in concentration, a soft, amused smile playing on your lips as she grumbled good-naturedly. The sunlight caught your hair, making it gleam, and in that moment, without the imposing uniform, without the glint of your enormous blade, you looked… peaceful. Approachable.
Ace skidded to a halt, his laughter dying on his lips. He blinked, then blinked again, trying to reconcile this gentle woman with the relentless Marine who was his constant, formidable shadow. He nudged Marco, who was just catching up. "Hey, Marco, does that woman look familiar to you?"
Marco followed Ace's gaze, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took in your appearance. He knew the Admiral, of course, recognized her face from countless skirmishes. But this… this was different. The absence of the uniform, the relaxed posture, the genuine smile – it threw him for a loop. "Hmm, she does, yoi," he mused, a thoughtful frown creasing his brow. "But… no. Couldn't be."
Just then, you looked up, sensing their prolonged stare. Your eyes, usually sharp and discerning, were soft, filled with the warmth of your break. You offered them a polite, friendly smile, the same one you'd given the berry boy and the street performer. Ace found himself frozen, a strange mix of recognition and utter disbelief washing over him. He opened his mouth, then closed it, utterly speechless. Marco, equally bewildered, merely nodded curtly in return, a flicker of suspicion in his phoenix-like gaze. Neither of them knew how to process the sight of the relentless Admiral Y/n, the embodiment of their most persistent foe, being so… utterly, undeniably human.
Your gaze, initially soft and unburdened by rank, landed on Ace and Marco. A flicker of recognition, swift and almost imperceptible, crossed your face. For a bare second, the gentle lines around your eyes seemed to sharpen, the faintest hint of the Admiral resurfacing. Then, just as quickly, it vanished, replaced by the same open, friendly smile you'd offered everyone else. You even gave a slight, almost imperceptible nod, acknowledging them not as adversaries, but as fellow beings simply passing through the market.
"Beautiful day, isn't it?" you said, your voice light and clear, completely devoid of the commanding tone they were used to. You weren't challenging them, weren't even questioning their presence. It was a simple, genial observation.
Before Ace or Marco could fully process this surreal interaction, a new figure materialized beside you. Commander Kaito, your stern and perpetually vigilant second-in-command, had been keeping a discreet eye on you, as always. His hand, as if by instinct, flew to the hilt of his cutlass when he spotted the distinctive Whitebeard jolly roger tattooed on Ace's arm. His eyes, usually cool and focused, widened in alarm.
"Admiral—!" he began, his voice a low, urgent warning, his hand tightening on his weapon.
But then he caught your serene gaze, the peaceful curve of your lips, and the utterly relaxed set of your shoulders. The tension in his posture visibly drained, replaced by a weary, almost resigned sigh. His hand fell from his weapon, and he ran a hand through his perpetually messy hair. He knew this drill. He'd seen it countless times.
Ace, however, was having none of it. He stared from you, to Kaito, and back to you, his brow furrowed in utter confusion. "What the hell is going on here?" he demanded, his voice low, a mix of suspicion and genuine bewilderment. "You're… you're Admiral Y/n! Why aren't you attacking? Why are you just letting us walk around? And why are you… smiling?"
Marco, equally perplexed, simply grunted in agreement, his phoenix-like eyes scrutinizing your unchanging, pleasant expression.
Kaito pinched the bridge of his nose, a long-suffering look on his face. He glanced at you, then at the two bewildered Whitebeard commanders, before letting out another, even deeper sigh. "Because, you imbeciles," he stated, his voice flat, "the Admiral is on break." He paused, seeing their continued blank stares. "Look," he explained, gesturing vaguely between your relaxed form and the Marine base in the distance. "There's Admiral Y/n. Strict, relentless, unwavering justice, always. She'll chase you to the ends of the Grand Line and beyond, and she won't stop until you're in Impel Down." He paused, then gestured back to you, the woman currently admiring a particularly plump mango at a fruit stall. "And then there's this Y/n. She's… well, she's on break. And when she's on break, she's just… Y/n. No attacks, no arrests, no justice. Just… a civilian enjoying her time off."
Ace and Marco exchanged a look of pure disbelief. "A civilian?" Ace repeated slowly, as if the concept was entirely foreign. "You're telling me… the Marine Admiral who's been hounding us for months, the one who nearly took down Jozu by herself, is just… off duty? And that means she won't attack us?"
Kaito just shrugged, an almost exhausted gesture. "That's exactly what I'm telling you. It's… a policy. A very firm policy. For her, anyway. You're lucky you caught her like this, frankly. If she had that jacket on…" He let the sentence hang, the unspoken threat clear.
The Whitebeard commanders stared at you, the "civilian Y/n," who was now bartering good-naturedly with the fruit vendor, a small laugh bubbling from her throat. The sheer absurdity of the situation seemed to finally dawn on them. Ace's jaw dropped slightly. Marco, ever stoic, actually managed a small, bewildered twitch of an eyebrow. They had faced down countless Marines, but this… this was an entirely new level of baffling. The most tenacious Marine in the world was suddenly… harmless. And, dare they admit it, kind.
The bewildered silence that had fallen over Ace and Marco was abruptly shattered by a sudden commotion down the street. The crowd parted like water, murmuring fearfully, as an imposing shadow fell over the market. Edward Newgate, the mighty Whitebeard, had arrived. He moved with a quiet, immense presence, his iconic crescent-moon mustache adding to his legendary aura. Despite his stoic demeanor, he was still an Emperor of the Sea, a pirate through and through, and his presence alone was enough to incite fear, and sometimes, irrational bravery.
A lone, trembling civilian, emboldened by a mixture of terror and outrage, suddenly screamed, "Pirate scum!" and hurled a rotten fruit directly at Whitebeard's massive head. It was a pathetic projectile, but the intent was clear.
Time seemed to slow. Ace tensed, ready to incinerate the offending object, and Marco shifted, preparing to intercept. But before either of them could react, a blur of motion appeared between the civilian and the Emperor. You, Y/n, in your simple sundress, moved with an almost supernatural speed. Your hand, deceptively delicate, shot out and effortlessly plucked the trajectory of the airborne fruit from the air, catching it with a soft thud as if it were a baseball.
You didn't even look at Whitebeard. Instead, you turned your serene gaze back to the terrified civilian, your smile still in place, though it now held a subtle, unyielding edge that only Kaito would recognize as the faintest whisper of the Admiral.
"Now, now," you chastised, your voice still soft, but carrying an undeniable authority that made the civilian quail. "That's hardly polite, is it? We simply don't throw things at people, regardless of who they are. It's terribly bad manners." With that, you gently tossed the bruised fruit into a nearby waste bin. "Let's all try to enjoy the market in peace, shall we?" You gave a final, calm nod to the stunned crowd, then turned and continued your stroll as if nothing untoward had happened, blending back into the bustling humanity, leaving behind a trail of utter disbelief.
The reactions were immediate and varied.
On your side, Kaito let out another long-suffering sigh, a mixture of exasperation and grudging pride. "See?" he muttered to the still-gaping Ace and Marco. "Told you. On break. Even an Emperor isn't worth breaking her 'manners' rule." The pride was evident in the way his chest puffed out slightly. He'd served under her long enough to witness these moments of bizarre, almost comical civility countless times.
The Marine personnel who had just arrived with Kaito, initially poised for a full-blown confrontation, slowly lowered their weapons, their faces a mixture of confusion and relief. They knew the Admiral's "break rules" were absolute, but seeing her apply them to Whitebeard was a whole new level of astonishing.
For the Whitebeard Pirates, it was a moment of profound, collective shock. Ace's jaw, which had only just recovered from its earlier drop, fell open again. "She… she just… caught it?" he stammered, staring at the spot where you had been. "And then she scolded someone for bad manners?" The sheer absurdity of the situation seemed to short-circuit his brain.
Marco was equally flummoxed. He’d seen the Admiral in action, a whirlwind of calculated destruction. To see her so utterly composed, so… gentle with a common thug, let alone a civilian throwing something at his father, was completely unprecedented. "Yoi," he breathed, a genuine note of bewilderment in his voice. "She really is off duty."
Even Whitebeard himself, who had remained utterly impassive through the whole event, slowly lowered his gaze from where you had disappeared. A faint, almost imperceptible smirk tugged at the corner of his mighty mustache. He had encountered countless Marines, but never one quite like this. The woman who relentlessly hunted his crew, the one with an iron will and a terrifying sense of justice, had just casually deflected a projectile meant for him and then lectured a civilian on decorum. It was… unexpected. And in its own strange way, it earned a flicker of respect from the legendary pirate.
The Whitebeard Pirates, still reeling from the bizarre display of the Admiral's "off-duty" persona, slowly began to process the implications. If Y/n truly disengaged from her Marine duties while on break, it presented an unprecedented, almost unbelievable opportunity. And Ace, ever the audacious one, was the first to fully grasp its potential.
A mischievous glint danced in his eyes. This was the Admiral, yes, but not the Admiral. This was a whole new game. With a confident smirk, he began to casually walk in your direction, his gait easy and unhurried, as if he too were simply enjoying a leisurely stroll through the market. Marco watched him go, a knowing, slightly exasperated shake of his head accompanying a quiet "Yoi." Even Whitebeard, observing from a distance, let a faint, amused rumble escape his chest.
You, meanwhile, were still Browse a stall laden with intricate local crafts, your attention momentarily captivated by a delicate, hand-carved wooden bird. You reached out to touch its smooth surface, your expression one of serene contentment.
"Well, well, well," a familiar, charming voice purred from just beside you, close enough for you to feel the warmth of his presence. "Fancy meeting you here, Admiral."
You slowly turned, your eyes meeting Ace's. His signature grin was plastered across his face, a challenge and an invitation all rolled into one. Your earlier, polite smile remained, but now, a subtle, almost imperceptible shift occurred. Your eyes, usually so direct, seemed to hold a new, playful spark.
"Fancy indeed, 'Fire Fist'," you replied, your voice still light, but now laced with a surprising warmth he hadn't heard from you before. You even leaned in slightly, a subtle gesture that made his grin widen. "Though I believe 'Admiral' isn't quite the correct address at the moment, wouldn't you agree?"
Ace's eyebrows shot up. This was new. Usually, you maintained an unyielding, professional distance. "Oh? And what would be the correct address for such a charming lady enjoying her day off?" he countered, his voice dripping with smooth flirtation. He gestured to your casual attire. "Quite a different look, I must say. Though, dare I say, equally captivating."
You let out a soft, genuine laugh, a sound that was melodic and entirely unexpected. It was the laugh of the "off-duty Y/n," free from the burdens of command. You met his gaze, your eyes sparkling with a boldness that surprised even Ace.
"Flatterer," you chided playfully, but there was no bite in your tone. You reached out, and to his surprise, your fingers lightly brushed the tattoo on his arm, lingering for just a second. "And here I thought pirates were all rough and tumble. You clean up rather nicely yourself, 'Fire Fist'." Your voice dropped to a slightly lower register, a husky undertone that sent a ripple of surprise through Ace. "Though I prefer my men a little… less likely to spontaneously combust."
Ace blinked, taken aback. He was used to being the one initiating the playful banter, the one pushing boundaries. You were not just reciprocating; you were reciprocating with a confident ease that was utterly disarming. He chuckled, a genuine, slightly flustered sound. "Well, I can always try to contain my flames for a pretty lady," he offered, a newfound hint of genuine interest in his voice. "Especially one who knows how to disarm a situation so… gracefully."
You simply smiled, a slow, alluring curve of your lips. "Grace is a Marine's greatest weapon, after all," you purred, your eyes dancing mischievously. "Even when we're off duty."
The usually confident Ace found himself momentarily speechless, a faint blush dusting his cheeks. He had certainly not expected this side of Admiral Y/n. He had prepared for a defiant glare, perhaps even a sharp retort. Not… not this.
The air between you and Ace crackled with an unspoken challenge, a playful tension that was exhilarating in its novelty. You found yourselves naturally falling into step, moving away from the main thoroughfare of the market, drawn almost instinctively down a quieter side street lined with artisan workshops. The initial shock of the Whitebeard Pirates and your own second-in-command began to subside, replaced by a mixture of amusement and exasperation.
"So, 'Admiral'," Ace began, his voice a low, teasing murmur, "how often do you shed the uniform and let your hair down like this? I'm starting to think I've been chasing the wrong Y/n all this time." His eyes, dark and sparkling with mischief, dropped to your bare shoulders, then back up to meet your gaze, a clear invitation in their depths.
You chuckled, the sound a soft, melodic counterpoint to the distant sounds of the bustling port. "Only when duty permits, 'Fire Fist'," you replied, your voice a silken purr that held a hint of a dare. You leaned in just a fraction, your elbow almost brushing his. "And trust me, if you saw me off duty more often, you might find yourself in even deeper trouble than usual." Your eyes, usually sharp and discerning, now held a bright, audacious glint as you met his challenge. It was a look that promised both mischief and an undeniable thrill.
Ace laughed, a genuine, delighted sound. "Is that a warning, Admiral, or an invitation?" he countered, his hand hovering near yours, subtly hinting at a touch. "Because I've always been one for a good challenge."
You finally let your hand brush his, a fleeting, electric contact. "Perhaps a bit of both, pirate," you whispered, your smile widening into a slow, knowing smirk. The unspoken understanding flowed between you – a mutual recognition of the game being played, a playful dance on the very edge of propriety. As you continued to walk, the afternoon sun casting long shadows, a shared, silent laughter seemed to bubble up between you, a secret language no one else could understand.
Back at the market, the Whitebeard Pirates were having a field day.
"Oh, look at our little Ace, all smitten!" Thatch crowed, elbowing Marco. "He's probably already planning their wedding on the Moby Dick."
Marco sighed, running a hand over his face. "He goes on about her constantly, yoi," he grumbled, though a small smile tugged at his lips. "It's like listening to a lovesick teenager. 'Oh, Admiral Y/n's so strong! Admiral Y/n's so determined!'"
"And don't forget 'Admiral Y/n's got such pretty eyes!'" Izou chimed in, mimicking Ace's voice with exaggerated earnestness. "He's pathetic."
Suddenly, a new voice cut in, dry and weary. "You think he's bad?"
They turned to see Commander Kaito, your second-in-command, standing nearby, listening in with a world-weary expression. "You should hear her when she's trying to justify why 'Fire Fist' Ace keeps getting away." He paused, then sighed deeply. "She claims it's 'strictly professional,' mind you. 'Just another pirate to apprehend for justice.' But then she goes on for hours, analyzing every single one of his moves, his escape routes, his battle style. It's 'Ace did this, Ace did that, if only Ace hadn't pulled that stunt.' Honestly, it's a fixation." Kaito shook his head. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say she talks about him more than you lot do."
The Whitebeard Pirates roared with laughter, a booming sound that echoed through the market. Ace wasn't the only one with a "professional" interest in the other. The teasing, they realized, worked both ways.
The easy laughter and playful banter came to an abrupt, jarring halt. A discreet, almost imperceptible beep-beep-beep emanated from your wrist, a small, unassuming watch suddenly demanding attention. Simultaneously, the same quiet alarm sounded from Commander Kaito's pocket across the market. The air, which moments ago had been thick with flirtation and amusement, instantly shifted, becoming taut with an unspoken urgency.
Your face, which had been so soft and open, underwent a subtle but unmistakable transformation. The warmth in your eyes receded, replaced by a steely glint. The relaxed lines of your shoulders sharpened, and your posture, almost imperceptibly, became straighter, more commanding. The gentle, approachable woman vanished, and the Admiral began to resurface.
Kaito, seeing the change in your demeanor, didn't hesitate. He barked a swift command to a nearby, lower-grade Marine who had been trailing him discreetly. "Her jacket, now!" The young Marine, eyes wide, scrambled forward, holding out your pristine, heavy Admiral's jacket.
You accepted it with a fluid motion, your movements precise and efficient. As the familiar fabric settled onto your shoulders, the transformation was complete. The insignia gleamed, the weight of your rank visibly settling upon you. The playful smirk was gone, replaced by a stern, unyielding expression. Admiral Y/n was back.
Kaito stepped forward, his voice losing all traces of its earlier weariness, now sharp and authoritative as he addressed the still-stunned Whitebeard Pirates. "The Admiral's official break period is concluded. This port is now under Marine jurisdiction. As per standard protocol, you have exactly ten minutes to vacate the premises before formal apprehension procedures commence." His hand, without hesitation this time, rested firmly on the hilt of his cutlass, a clear warning.
Ace, who had been just moments ago captivated by your teasing, found himself staring at a complete stranger. The warmth in your eyes was replaced by an intense, piercing gaze that promised no quarter.
"It seems our delightful detour has come to an end, 'Fire Fist'," you stated, your voice now crisp and resonant, the casual lilt replaced by the undeniable cadence of command. There was no trace of the flirtation, no hint of the amusement. Your expression was unreadable, save for the unwavering resolve that burned in your eyes. "Duty calls. And as you know, I take my duties very seriously."
You paused, your gaze locking with his, a silent promise of the inevitable clash to come. "Next time we meet, pirate, don't expect such… hospitality."
Ace swallowed, the carefree grin he usually wore replaced by a stunned expression. He knew this look. He knew this voice. It was the Admiral, through and through. The stark contrast between the two Y/ns was jarring, almost disorienting. He could only nod, a flicker of grudging respect in his eyes, knowing that the chase was about to resume.
The ten minutes vanished like smoke, a mere breath in the face of the inevitable. The once-bustling market became a battleground in waiting. Civilians, sensing the shift in the air, scattered like startled birds, leaving behind abandoned stalls and the echoing silence of impending conflict. Commander Kaito and the Marine contingent formed a disciplined line behind you, their expressions grim and resolute.
Across from you, the Whitebeard Pirates had likewise formed their ranks. Ace stood at the forefront, his initial bewilderment giving way to his characteristic fiery resolve. Marco and Jozu flanked him, their stances ready for the storm they knew was coming. Whitebeard himself remained a towering figure in the background, his mere presence a formidable challenge.
"Portgas D. Ace!" your voice rang out, devoid of any warmth, cutting through the tense silence like a sharpened blade. "You are hereby under arrest for piracy, countless acts of destruction, and evasion of Marine authority. Surrender now, or face the consequences!"
Ace merely grinned, a familiar, challenging glint in his eyes. "You know I can't do that, Admiral! Besides, I just got here. Wouldn't want to leave without a proper farewell, now would I?" Flames erupted around his fists, a defiant challenge.
"Then you leave me no choice," you stated, your hand already on the hilt of your enormous blade. In a single, fluid motion, the great sword was unsheathed, its polished surface reflecting the midday sun like a beacon of unyielding justice. The weight of the weapon felt natural in your grasp, an extension of your own formidable will.
You moved first, a blur of dark blue uniform against the sun-drenched street. Your speed was breathtaking, a testament to years of rigorous training and countless battles. Ace met your charge head-on, his body transforming into a column of fire. Steel met flame in a furious clash that sent shockwaves through the deserted market.
You didn't speak. You didn't taunt. You simply fought. Your blade sang through the air, each swing precise, powerful, and aimed with lethal intent. You were no longer the gentle woman who admired wooden birds; you were a force of nature, a whirlwind of calculated strikes and impenetrable defense. Ace, for his part, was equally relentless, his flames a dynamic shield and a searing weapon. He launched fireballs, sent streams of scorching heat, and moved with a fluidity that matched your own.
"Still as stubborn as ever, Admiral!" Ace shouted, pushing back against a powerful thrust that would have sent him flying if not for his logia form. There was a flicker of something almost like admiration in his voice, but you ignored it completely.
You parried his next fiery punch, the clang of metal echoing sharply. "Justice knows no compromise, pirate!" you retorted, your voice clipped and cold, a stark reminder of your on-duty persona. You pressed your attack, forcing him back, each step a testament to your unwavering focus. You were pushing him, driving him, just as you had countless times before. This was the dance of predator and prey, a familiar rhythm carved by steel and flame across the Grand Line.
The duel raged on, a mesmerizing display of raw power and honed skill. You moved with the relentless precision of a tidal wave, your colossal blade a silver blur against the fiery onslaught of Ace's attacks. Every thrust was calculated, every parry resolute. You pressed him back, forcing him to expend more energy, your face a mask of unwavering determination. There was no flicker of the gentle woman from moments ago, only the cold, hard focus of the Admiral.
Ace, for his part, fought with his characteristic wild abandon, but even his impressive Logia abilities were being tested by your relentless pressure. He launched a "Higan" at you, a barrage of fiery pistol shots, which you deflected with a practiced swing of your blade, sending the scorching projectiles harmlessly wide. He tried to get behind you with "Kagero," a burst of speed using his flames, but you anticipated the move, twisting and bringing your blade down in a sweeping arc that forced him to erupt into fire to avoid being bisected.
"You're quicker today, Admiral!" Ace gasped, a bead of sweat tracing a path through the soot on his temple. His usual cocky grin was strained.
"My diligence is unwavering, pirate," you replied, your voice flat and devoid of emotion, though you were already anticipating his next desperate gambit. You saw it in his eyes, the slight shift in his stance – he was preparing for an escape.
The Retreat
Just as you lunged, aiming for a critical opening, Ace unleashed a blinding burst of flames, a large, fiery dome that momentarily obscured your vision. The heat was immense, forcing you to guard your face and take a half-step back. It was a diversion, expertly executed.
When the flames dissipated, Ace was gone. Not a trace of him remained, save for the lingering scent of smoke in the air and a faint shimmer on the horizon – the tell-tale sign of a Logia user making a swift exit. He hadn't landed a decisive blow, nor had you, but he had, once again, slipped through your grasp.
You lowered your sword slowly, your chest rising and falling evenly, showing no sign of exertion. Your eyes scanned the now-empty street, a flicker of something akin to professional frustration passing through them. Another stalemate. Another escape.
Commander Kaito jogged up to you, his expression a mix of relief and resignation. "He got away, Admiral," he stated, though it was more of an observation than a question.
"As expected," you replied, your voice even. You sheathed your blade with a soft click, the sound echoing in the silence. The imposing weapon now rested securely on your back, its work done for the moment. "Inform the fleet. Resume standard patrol routes. And ensure this port is thoroughly checked for any remaining pirate activity."
As you began to walk away, your posture rigid and your gaze fixed forward, Kaito watched your retreating back. He knew that for you, Admiral Y/n, the chase was never truly over. It was merely paused, awaiting the next, inevitable encounter with the 'Fire Fist'.

The good ol' days
If you called Ace "Angel" as a pet name he would literally burst into tears.
Just a thought
👘🍢🗡️HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BEAUTIFUL CROSSDRESSING SAMURAI 🗡️🍢👘
He will always be one of my favs <3333
Just found out people simp? For Whitebeard? Like excuse me, that’s my dad. How can anyone look at that man and think anything other than “yep, that’s a dad alright. Father material.”
Not trying to shame anyone who simps for Whitebeard, I just didn’t know that demographic of people existed. My no father having ass took one look at that man and went “yep. That’s my dad now.”
2/5 stars rating for Beres’ day so far
might add missing an earlobe to her character profile later.
Happy birthday to this beautiful man!
