Maia did not know fairies were real until a few months ago, during a fascinating family dinner in which her cousin mentioned them. Maia stared, dumbfounded. The family had made light of it, but Maia was embarrassed. There was so much of the magical world that she didn't know. However, today she was one step closer to expanding her worldview.

Initially, Maia was not sure if she wanted to attend the ball. Being on the mountain made her choke up. Her parents had met on this mountain so long ago. Still, when Mr. Kim invited her, she knew she had to come. He was one of the few friends she had.

She had told her grandparents and they had put in the money for a new dress. It was a whimsical, floral gown. She felt more like a nymph than a witch. She hoped it wasn't too much. She was in high heels and towering over a lot of people. Hopefully, giants weren't real. She did not want to be mistaken for one of those. Though, it would explain a lot.

Mr. Kim had given her an entire lecture on what to do at the ball. Or, more specifically, what not to do. Which was why she was currently drinking something he brought for her, as opposed to any of the decadent beverages surrounding them. "Are you sure I can't have anything? Not even a cupcake?"

Hayun didn’t normally run for her life, but even she had to resist the urge. Really, the only reason she was still on the spot was because she had been convinced to wear torture devices on her feet. Combined with the very frilly dress someone had forced her into (because that was ‘appropriate’ for such events), Hayun was not exactly combat ready. The dress was also a bright red, so if she wanted to hide, it would be impossible to do so in such a outfit. At least it would disguise blood stains.

Fuck it. Hayun punched the fae right across the face. “Keep the hell away from me, or I will curse you into the next century,” she said. Hayun was preparing to take off her shoes to use as projectiles when she heard a noise behind her. Hayun turned around. She was prepared to ask who was eavesdropping, when her mouth dropped open slightly.

It was him. The dream guy. Wait, no. That was not the way to phrase it. She stared at him for a moment, as the fae began to come to. Instead of greeting him, she went straight to defending herself. “I would just like to point out that he started it.” She wasn’t sure why she was bothering. “And I didn’t even curse him, which I could of.” She said the last part to the body on the ground. Really, for a fae, he should have taken a hit better. She didn’t even manage to sneak iron past the guards.

The evening was beginning to go lose its light as it does every night. Sooyun had just finished writing her notes of the days catches and comparing the end of year limit that is regulated by the village she lives in. The dock is practically empty at this point in the day as she follows behind the last group onto the coming streets of the local village. It's still bustling with life even with the evening chill dropping as Sooyun makes her way home.

It is a similar routine she follows daily with the occasional destination changing depending on the wind and what is in season for the haenyeo. But nonetheless it is a walk she enjoys when looking on what to buy on her way home. Her own thoughts even went to visiting Jeju city soon in hopes of looking for some Christmas decorations to liven her little home. Soon enough her space out brought her to a bench where her exploration went to a halt and continued her notes for the next day. She figured later in the night she would go into their next harvest ground and see where the spots would be.

Though her thoughts had her eyes zone out when she looked from her notebook, in the crowd of people walking to about the streets her eyes took a glance to the crowd and noticed a face she hadn't seen in a while. With a small grin on her face she waved to the other, hoping to catch his attention before he walked past, "What are you doing here out in my neck of the island?" It was only small banter and thought even though they weren't super close, it was nice to see a familiar face during this time.

The field was covered in dandelions. Beautiful, bright, yellow dandelions. However, all Hayun could smell was blood. She was no stranger to the smell. She was always a bit of a scrapper. She had grown up with bloodied knees and torn ligaments. Hayun had been in her share of fights. People didn’t like her. They looked down on her family. However, it was hard for them to keep that arrogant look in their eyes when there was a fist in their face.

There were also a few incidents with a bat. Hayun had always been good at baseball and it made for such an easy weapon. However, this was different. This was an actual field of battle. Soldiers littered the floor and weapons were flying everywhere. She flinched. It might have been a dream, but it felt all too real.

 Hayun was not sure whose nightmare this was, but she knew it wasn’t hers. Her head throbbed slightly. She looked around. Sometimes, people weren’t actually active in their dreams. They were just watching, like an omniscient god. She hoped this wasn’t the case. She needed a sense of direction. Hayun looked around. Whose dream was this.

Ah. There. She spotted someone by a river. It was the only peaceful scene in the blood-spattered mess. Hayun began to make her way over, hoping not to startle whoever it was. She’d died in dreams before and it was no guarantee that she would wake up. 

“Hello?” she asked, tentatively.
