I forgot. Gabe's out. That explains it
We forget
In the wonder of being His
We forget
That we still live in a fallen world
We forget
When we are surrounded by others that believe
That most around us don’t
We forget
That Satan is still active on this earth
That, right now, it is his
We forget
In our bubble
That there are so many trapped in his lies
We forget
In our pride, our self worship
Our contentment to be in church
We forget
That we are to be the church
We forget
The ones seeking, the ones hurting, the ones hungry,
For the very Bread of Life
That lives in us
We forget
The devil we once knew
The one that enslaved us
In our freedom
We forget
The ones still in chains
We forget
We have the key to unlock them
How can we forget?
rly wanted to put smth i told a mootie here for others who might feel sad/disappointed by takiishi's view of endo:
we can see in this chapter that ume and endo represent two parts of the human experience that takiishi seems to have some experience with, in a way - while it started off that way, he admits, that they annoy him
it's more obvious to say that umemiya specifically made him have fun, but look at the framing
he doesnt say specifically ume made him feel that. it's BOTh of them
for takiishi, this is how he experiences the world. and think about it! he knows of endo as someone who gets him things he likes. he went to him for the tattoo bc he knew endo would design something he liked (<a servermate said that and i was STUNNED)
endo exists in his world, it's just that it's not in the way endo sees it/expects it, because so far all we've had is HIS interpretation of takiishi
takiishi's view of the world is very tilted and strange, he might even have face blindness. he only sees people as objects, but for these two... theyre human.
theyre the only humans, to him. that's huge, for someone like takiishi. and soon im certain we will see more, and we will ge more of him acknowledging endo
yes, takiishi def doesnt APPRECIATE endo as much as he should but we expected that, in fact endo is someone he values more than i expected a few moths ago, it's huge. and in takiishi's own inner world, where he's blank, devoid of color and shadows, endo's tattoo is still there. he values him and what endo gives him, although probably not the way a regular human experiences it. he needs to just get better
he needs to understand what endo is to him.
“We forget all too soon the things we thought we could never forget. We forget the loves and the betrayals alike, forget what we whispered and what we screamed, forget who we were.”
Joan Didion, Slouching Towards Bethlehem (1968)
“Whether We Forget It Or Not”
Once upon a time, life just happened. In the way that chemical reactions do, an inevitable occurrence when ingredients are thrown in a pinch of soup.
