Adrenaline [Sneak Peek]

Here’s a snippet of a Batman fic I’m working on. 

“I’ve survived worse odds.” 

“Well that’s why you have a partner.” You put a hand on his shoulder. “To even up those odds.” 

“That’s not the point.” Bruce turns away from you, pretending to check over his utility belt. “You could have gotten hurt.” 

“Risk kinda comes with the whole vigilante thing. Besides, are you really the best person to give me a lecture on safety? Didn’t you just jump off a building last week?” You raise an eyebrow. “Seems like the Bat calling the kettle black to me.” 

You might be mistaken, but you think you see the corner of his lips quirk up in a grin. “I had a parachute.” 

“‘That’s not the point,’” you parrot his words. “You could have gotten hurt.”

Bruce presses his lips together, silent for a moment before he mumbles. “Thanks…for having my back.” 

“No problem.” You smirk. “You look good playing the damsel.” 

He shakes his head. “Shut up.” 

You press a hand to his chest, feeling the stiff planes of his armor. “Why don’t you make me?”

“You really want to do this here?” He looks you up and down. “With GCPD right outside?”

Your hand falls to his utility belt, and Bruce’s body tenses. “Not particularly no.” You tilt your head, gently brushing your lips against his. “Why don’t you give Gordon the slip and come find me?” You swipe the grapple gun from his belt and take a step back. 

His gaze dips down to your lips. “It’s a big city.” 

“Something tells me you won’t have that much trouble.” You aim the gun at the broken window Bruce made his dramatic entrance from and fire. The hook clicks as it locks into place. “Better hurry. It’s impolite to keep a lady waiting.” You wink as you’re lifted into the sky.

Bruce watches you go with the faintest hint of a fond smile on his face. And then suddenly, as if commanded by a switch, he’s all business again. A set jaw. Hard eyes and rolled shoulders. Gone are all the traces of tenderness. It’s a weakness he only shows to you.

NaNo WIP Intro 1: Warriors fic

summary;; There have always only ever been four Clans in the Southern Great Territories, and that is how it is supposed to be. The four Old Great Ones spoke it at the beginning of Creation. However, when a fifth Clan suddenly moves in, saying they've been driven from their homes and called by their patron God to come here, the balance of life is about to shift dramatically... especially when a warrior of another Clan finds themselves inexplicably drawn to a mysterious cat from the new Clan.

main characters;; Mistlight - the main character of the series, and a craftsmaker from PondClan, Clan of the Divers. He finds himself mysteriously drawn to Newtwatcher, a strange cat from SeaClan who claims to catch glimpses of the future.

Newtwatcher - the mysterious cat from SeaClan who catches Mistlight's eye. Fae claims to catch glimpses of the future in faer dreams, though it is impossible to know for sure if fae is telling the truth.

Nettlestar - Newtwatcher's brother and the leader of SeaClan, he is determined to lead his Clan through these difficult times without failure. He is deaf and communicated by reading lips and sign language.

Snowstar - Mistlight's half-sister and the current leader of PondClan, she is wary of the newcomers but decides not to give them trouble. However, she is determined to keep Mistlight from getting close to Newtwatcher or any cat from the new Clan.

The Darkness - the only name SeaClan has for the threat that supposedly forced them out of their original home further north and made them travel all the way here, to the coastline. They claim it is a deadly, powerful force, which may end the Clans as they know it if they aren't careful.

Divided is an AU where Kanan decided after moving in with Hera that he didn't want to be in the fight, and left. Years later, he found himself on Lothal, where he met Ezra and took him in on his own. Meanwhile, Hera had met Zeb and Sabine, took them in with her crew, and together they went to Lothal to bring the fight there. The story itself takes place the same time that Spark of Rebellion did, but there will be some flashbacks and memories. It includes both original missions and scenes, as well as some re-imagined ones from Season 1 of Rebels. Start at the beginning here!
