Without you my friend...
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again...

OHHHhhhhhHHHHHhhhhhhHhHHHH-
one of the weapons i’m most bitter about losing to the sunsetting system is my dearly-beloved Bygones pulse rifle. i constantly refer to this weapon as my baby, because i’ve had it for a long time now and it’s been a very reliable and faithful part of my loadout.
i got it back when the forges came out; it came from a gambit-forged frame in the bergusia forge (which was still considered to be a challenge back when i picked this up), and because it was forged there, i consider it to be a weapon that my guardian personally made. it was forged with a wonderful perk combo, practically perfect and flexible for almost anything; because of the way gambit loot drops work, it’s rare to get a bygones at all, let alone one with a good combo AND a good barrel + mag + masterwork, so i was especially proud and overjoyed to have it.
with the combo of kill clip and outlaw together, this thing has seen countless battles in both PVE and PVP, shredding the health bars of random NPC mooks, raid bosses, and crucible guardians all the same. it can duel against snipers, hand cannons, rushing shotguns, other pulse users, you name it. this rifle has nearly 10,000 combined kills logged on it, and that’s not counting un-registered kills when i had the wrong tracker equipped. that total is likely around 12,000 or more.
it feels awful that a gun i feel so emotionally invested in is gonna be left literally in the dust, just so that bungie can release a practically identical rifle in a couple of seasons that i’d have to grind for AGAIN, just so that they don’t have to think of a new creative perk or perk combo to make me want to grind for the new rifle otherwise. they can pry my Bygones from my death grip.
“Gone, but never forgotten,” indeed.
I find it more than a little hilarious that the only way to balance Mountiantop/Reculse was to entirely eighty-six the weapons.
Sounds about right.
