October the 2nd.  When I was a child, and a Brownie Guide, we’d go out a lot to Stanton Moor (as previously illustrated), and go Weaseling - which is where you spend your afternoon squeezing yourself through small holes between rocks.  I used to be quite good at it.  I can’t imagine anything more awful now.  There was one cross-shaped hole through which everyone was very keen to Weasel, and it was called the Parson’s Cross.
