Weave Weeks - Music Monday
A scene I would have loved to see is Moiraine holding off the Trollocs as the EF5 flee towards Shadar Logoth (from EotW, Ch. 19).
Moiraine does an absolutely epic stand against 500 Trollocs, first causing an earthquake and then creating a huge wall of fire to cut off the Trollocs advance.
Apparently Rafe did originally plan to include this in S1E2 but (understandably) it was cut for time and budget considerations.
Weave Weeks "What if?"
triple drabble (300 words) in which Moiraine and Siuan never hear the prophecy, and fulfill their 2x07 plan to visit Cairhien. let me know on ao3 if you liked it 💖
-
Fires still raged in Cairhien – the Topless Towers burned like candles, darkening the sky with smoke. Damodred corpses were practically still spilling out blood following the Aiel army’s withdrawal. Moiraine knew there was endless work to be done, and that one misstep could plunge her headlong into the vortex of daes dae’mar.
At the moment, she didn’t care. Lightning danced through her veins. Thoughts of Cairhien had often filled her with heavy dread, but now she could not stop moving. Siuan kept touching her lightly, as if to calm a spooked horse, but Moiraine had no desire for calm. She wanted to scale the tallest tower and paint a declaration in the smoke. Siuan was hers! She was Siuan’s!
“Father, Anvaere, Barthanes –” She smiled at the child in her sister’s arms, though he was too young to do anything besides blink at her – “Allow me to introduce Siuan Sanche, daughter of the river.”
Siuan’s fingers grazed over her hand, but Moiraine didn’t need any encouragement to keep speaking. A century of etiquette training couldn’t have stilled her tongue. “My betrothed.”
For a moment there was utter silence. Her father’s face cracked into a wide smile, but Anvaere cut in with characteristic derision: “A Tairen wishes to be a Damodred, does she?”
“No,” Siuan retorted flatly, “I absolutely do not. But Moiraine is welcome to be a Sanche, if she wants to escape this flaming snare of a legacy.”
At her words, a delighted giggle burst from Moiraine’s lips. At Siuan’s shocked, embarrassed expression as her mind caught up to her mouth, the giggle became a full-bellied laugh. Cairhien had never heard Moiraine Damodred laugh so hard.
When she straightened up, blinking away tears, her family – Siuan included – was staring at her like she’d lost her wits. Well, perhaps she had.
Weave Weeks: Music Monday
I didn't heard about Weave Weeks until now. Even if it's past midnight and already the 5th in my timezone, I'm gonna write a few words for this first day (and it's still the 4th in some countries so I'm not that late).
I haven't read the books so I will just talk about the series. I really like the original soundtracks composed by Lorne Balfe - I'm still mad about the fact that we didn't have a second volume for season 3 because there are so many good tracks in it. I mean, the music in the season finale?! Just one of the most beautiful soundtrack ever (link below to an edit made by myself as we, the fans, have to do everything on our own)
! The title of the soundtrack is unofficial of course !
Otherwise, as my favorite character is Thom Merrilin, I have to say I love the scenes where he is playing music and / or singing ("The Great Hunt for the Horn" from S03E06 is underrated even though we didn't have a lot of time to hear it - you can also find it on my YouTube channel). "The Man Who Can't Forget" is perfect as some sort of foreshadowing and I could watch this scene all day long.
This is also true for "The Hills of Tanchico" where he is in duo with Elayne. This moment really change something in me and it's during this scene that I realized that The Wheel of Time was more than a tv series. There is not a day since the episode aired where I don't think about this scene or listen to the song. Big shout out to Nikhil Koparkar for this memorable music.
