I'm finally weaving the last of my warp from the overshot weaving class I took on January. This last bit has been such a slog for lots of reasons
- I used colours I don't typically work with (to get out of my comfort zone)
- I did the full project instead of the samples (because I figured more practice is better)
- I won't use the finished project (even if I had used different colours, anything on the table becomes a cat bed, so table linens aren't ideal)
- I couldn't decide if I wanted to do a runner or more placemats (because it wasn't going to be used either way)
Mostly though, the problem was that the whole point of doing this warp wasn't to have finished items, it was to learn new things. Once the things were learned, my motivation went to zero.
Also, the selvedges are awful. Partly because using a different method than I'm used to, partly because of the wrist braces, and partly because I didn't fix a thing early on because I didn't think it would matter (it did). Maybe they'll be less awful once wet finished?
Star fashion (ABCD) top and bottom
Rose fashion top and bottom (DCBA)
Alternate rose top and bottom (CBAD)
I've got about 1/4 of the last one done. I debated just cuttong off after 4, but I think I'll give these to my grandmother and I figured the lesson in discipline isn't the worst.
