One of our Riff Raff UI Developers, @byrichardpowell introduced me to rumpetroll.com this morning; An engaging and extremely unusual web chat experience created entirely with HTML5, Javascript and CSS3. Although nothing more than an amusing diversion, Rumpetroll has big implications for the future of interaction design, as it clearly demonstrates the power and diversity of the new standards that are emerging in our space, transforming the web into a truly interactive platform. Rumpetroll is a Norwegian effort created by four developers @danielmahal, @hugoahlberg, @simenbrekken and @hpeikemo using the WebSocket API, currently implemented in Firefox 4, Chrome 4, and Safari 5.
