the creator of Webbed (a super cute, 2D pixel puzzle platformer where you are a happy little jumping spider on an adventure to save her boyfriend from a big mean bowerbird) is working on a game where the main character is an isopod!!! it is yet unnamed, and the creator doesn't appear to have a Tumblr, so I'm spreading the good news here!
game progress and sneak peeks on Riley Neville's twitter!
games i need everyone i know to play because they have no fandom but are so good:
Sable: it's a coming of age story in a sci-fi alien desert, where you play as a girl named Sable exploring the world to discover who you want to be. There's incredible sutble worldbuilding, and the whole game is so so pretty (it inspired by moebius's art style, very cool and sci-fi).
In Other Waters: It's so hard to describe this game, but it's so worth playing. You play as an AI system built into a scuba suit, and you have to help the scientist in the suit navigate an alien planet and uncover why she was called there. You only get to interact with the world through UI but even still, the game tells an amazing, heart-wrenching story. There's also so much awesome worldbuilding too and aaauuuughhhh. If you love sea creatures, alien biology, or text adventures you'll love this game. (it's not all text, but there's certainly a lot)
Webbed: You play as a little jumping spider trying to save your boyfriend who got kidnapped. The gameplay is mostly using webs to swing around levels or solve puzzles, but its really fun and I've played it a number of times in its entirety. Very silly game, 10/press-E-to-shoot-lasers.
Neva: Neva certainly has a lot more of a fandom than the rest of the games here, but it's so incredible that I couldn't not mention it. I don't really know how to describe this one either... its a beautiful game, both in terms of story and visuals. Go watch the trailer, that'll do it more justice than I can.
i love all these games so much but i have NO ONE to talk about them with, and they all deserve more attention. This isn't meant to be a cohesive review or anything, just me convincing you to play. Mutuals, you should feel obligated to play all of these <3
[Review] Isopod: A Webbed Spin-Off (PC)
Emphasis on the spin.
