The day after Christmas... Kind of a weird day. The celebrations are over, but there are leftovers in the fridge. Leftovers that you don't really want. You're shopped-out, but there are amazing after-Christmas deals to be had everywhere and there's bound to be something Santa forgot to leave under the tree. So what do you do?

Grab some Starbucks, hit the stores early, get your few last must-haves (okay, okay, wants), swing by for a quick lunch and get out to nature. Or at least that's what we did today. 

My wife and I joined my in-laws for an awesome several-mile hike around Poinsette State Park right here in Sumter, SC. Technically, I think it's in Wedgefield, but close enough to home that we like to call it our own. 

It was an amazingly beautiful day after a week of steady rain... Cool, clear and sunny. Perfect for hiking. And, considering we took the wrong trail and ended up hiking for a bit longer than we had planned, the crisp December day was a welcome surprise. 

We found a phone and left a note where we picked it up in hopes the owner would find it. He did and he called and we reunited him with his beloved Samsung Galaxy. Turns out, he just moved down from Chicago and is working at a local restaurant and, as a thank-you, invited us to come see him at work for a little something special. We haven't taken him up on it just yet because, well... leftovers. Yeah, fight it all you want, but day-old holiday food just tastes better than it did the first time around. Or at least it did for us after several miles in the woods.

Now, to have a nap until it's time to ring in the New Year. Let's see what 2015 holds...
