I feel like yapping about batwheels joker so idk read if you care im just dumping some thoughts here
Yall know how amazing of a job Batwheels did at respecting where it came from, most of the material it uses: the superheroes are not kiddified or dumbed down, something i am so eternally grateful for i will explode.
But i feel like the way they handled Joker is absolutely amazing. Its so so so well done.
Jokers behavior & interaction with Batman
I know some people might not like the fact that most of the time Joker doesnt really do actual harm and doesnt commit super bad crimes, however, i feel like the things he does in Batwheels he would do alongside worse things. In older, original batwheels media, Joker is absolutely morally corrupt. He does terrible things, to Batman, to innocent people and even to children. Obviously they can't depict Joker like that in a show for preschoolers, so whenever i see people get mad about Joker being "kiddified" in Batwheels im like BIG FUCKING DUH HES KIDDIFIED HES THE REASON BARBARA GORDON IS PARALYZED BRO HE SHOT HER AND HE BRUTALLY KILLED JASON TODD YOU WANNA PUT SHIT LIKE THAT IN A KIDS SHOW?
What i like about this, is that the more "harmless" things Joker does - blocking roads, horsing around with the Batlight, stealing from stores and crashing cars - go so nicely in tune with his bigger crimes like the numerous times he's robbed banks and the time he tried flooding Gotham with massive water balloons. He would do that imo. Joker would litter random streets with banana peels the first day and the other day try to flood Gotham with a homemade tsunami. Its in character, but less harmful
His interactions with the Batfamily and especially the way he talks to Batman is honestly relatively in character aswell, he will lock them up in random cellars or sabotage their vehicles but he wont physically abuse them and try to drive them insane and literally blow them up. He talks to them like an unruly teenager, blows raspberries at them and laughs in their face whenever something goes wrong. His responses to them when they tell him hes caught are usually sarcastic or just "well actually" and pulls a weapon out of his jacket. In character, less harmful.
Something i also noticed is, Batman believes Bam and the Batwheels operate by themselves because of new technology, but the thing is that he took notice and asked "hey car is driving by itself how is car doing that"
Prank occasionally drives by himself and opens the door for Joker numerous times. And i love the way joker does not give a crap at all that his car can suddenly operate on its own and drive by itself and everything. He took notice of it for sure but he just doesnt seem to care. Prank is with him all the time and Joker doesnt really question this sudden update to his car, he just brushes it off or doesnt even acknowledge it. I love that. Joker would not care if the car he owned for a few years can suddenly drive by itself and opens its door. He would just think its funny, wich is what he seems to do in the show.
Jokers driving ability and ways of repairing damage to his car is also SO nailed. Pranks driver seat seatbelt breaks, and what does joker do? Just tie it to the back space of the seat. Problem solved 👍
(Maybe this is just me but im surprised that he even uses the seatbelt at all... howeverrrrr here are moments where hes leaning half his body out of the window wearing his seatbelt so it probably not super secure, but at least hes trying)
(I also love the small detail that hes a window leaner)
