During our bit of shopping before the show yesterday, the real goal was to find a dress for Rach for a wedding next weekend but somehow I ended up buying 4 pairs of shoes, effectively doubling my footwear count (I'm not really into shoes), so that was weird. And hard to pack.

She did find a dress though. Actually, two.

Also, the show was really great, the hotel was wonderful, and both train travels were excellent. The upgrade to Business Class was worth every penny.

If you're five or below, this place is a little paradise. My little cousins (ages 1 and 5) loved pushing the fire truck's buttons and "driving" the Model T. Also, the five-year-old liked the arts and crafts sections and found the button-making process absolutely fascinating.

All of that said, the web site says the museum's a great way to learn about the world. I'm not sure I saw a whole lot of learning. I mean if your targets are children 8 and under, it's only the oldest kids who can really read and comprehend. Otherwise, your audience can't read for themselves and don't have long attention spans.

Weekend Excursion: Mount Hiraodai

CCA took us on a trip to Mount Hiraodai. It is famous for its limestone rock formations, which are likened to flocks of sheep grazing on the hills.

Weekend Excursion: Trip to Osaka!

I went to visit Yoko in Osaka while she was in Japan. We met up with her friend Joe and walked all around town in the middle of a typhoon! It was a great time though. The highlight was the mono-mane ("impersonation") show we got to see.
